Problems With 32 Guardian

My P3AT did take some fluffing and buffing but hasn't failed since. It has a long trigger and a 6.5 # pull. It is consistent and I can live with that. With a a holster that prints like a wallet I carry all the time and never get noticed and it doesn't break my back or need special clothes.

I do like the look of the NAA overall but I think they made major mistakes with the very heavy trigger and large mag release. I still might end up with one of their revolvers but I'll pass on their semis.

What part of your hand is pushing the mag release?

I have a 32 Guardian that I have run about 130 rounds through. I have also dry fired it some.

When I bought it, it had some feeding problems and about a 15# trigger pull. I took the left grip off and oiled everything that moved and put it in a padded vice for 3 nights with the hammer blocked back. The trigger pull is now about 9 lbs

and almost as smooth as a Seecamp. Neat all metal gun.

I don't know how you hit the mag release but a set of wood grips that NAA sells might help, as they are much thicker. If you are hitting the mag release with your trigger finger you would have to have your finger  on the trigger way past the first knuckle. If you are right handed.

   PS

I think my feeding problems came from RN Remington ammo. Switched to the Winchester ammo in the white box.

I started with an OMC .380 backup in my back pocket as a Trooper in KY, dating myself.  I've had 2 .32 Guardians, and presently carry one in my back pocket in a wallet style holster.  I've put probably 500+ rounds through it without a hickup.  I've feed it everything I could lay my hands on including reloads and it performed with flying colors.

I think most problems related to the .32 can be traced back to the "limp wrist" grip and ammo type.  Just my two cents worth.  I never leave home without the .32 in my pocket and trust it with no doubts.  I'm a firm believer in putting at least 100+ rounds through a firearm, revolver or semi auto, before relying on.  All machines need a shake down cruise and there is no exception with firearms.

Hope it works out for you.

The Colt Mustang kicked out the magazine for me. On recoil, it hit the joint on my thumb. There were some aftermarket fixes for that. I never had any trouble with a heel catch - Seecamp, AMT(OMC), Baby Browning, Budischowsky, etc.  I know a lot of people don't like them, but heel catches seem to make sense on mini-guns.  You usually have to pull the mag out anyway, so thumbing the latch is done in the same motion.

Does anyone have experience with early .32 Guardians - feed, mag problems, etc.?  I don't remember the exact age, but probably from the first year, with metal mag. baseplates.  It's still NIB, zip tie still in the barrel.  The Seecamp's shortcoming is it's limited, expensive ammo requirements for fit/feed/function with the delayed blowback.  I thought the Guardian's straight blowback and ability to take any ammo was good, if at the cost of a little bulk & weight. I know the size is almost the same, the Guardian is just a little beefier. I do like the more refined slide release, too.  Just wondered if there were any issues anyone had or knew about on early production guns.

My early build (667, they started with AA5000 serial number) purchased in February 1998 had some feed problems, the old style slide release button(looked like a smooth polished dash instead of the half moon of todays)broke. I sent it back for up-grade including replacing the smooth button mag release and carry package meltdown performed. I still have six of the old style mag base plate magazines I use for CCW qualifying but carry the newer style finger extension. Since the up-grade and the the factory melt & polish I have had no problems. I concealed carried it for 12 years and have no intentions of getting rid of it even though I now carry LWS380 as of last year. If you sent that Guardian back in to the factory they would upgrade everything, I think by law or at least to protect themselves from liability.
