Just can't decide!

Hi all! Been browsing for a while and bought my first NAA (Sidewinder) maybe 5 months ago. I'm getting the itch for my next purchase and am having trouble deciding between the Pug and a Black Widow! Both are so cool!
I can only get one (now anyway) so don't go with the standard (yet true) "get both" comments please! lol. I'd love to just get them both but will have to space it out about 6 months or so.
Main use will be just carrying it when it's warm and don't want to print a larger weapon. I will probably use a pocket holster to keep it upright but with hot weather would be nice to just drop it in the shorts pocket and forget.
Also for plinking and snake duty in the yard or fishing or whatever.
I'm just wondering if the BW is starting to get too large to put in pocket with the extra length and bigger grips?
So, what say you?

I carried a BW in the front pocket for years with no issues whatsoever. Unless you have tiny pockets, I doubt you'd have any trouble either. Having said that, I prefer the PUG with BW/MM grips in a Ragsdale pocket holster. Nice compact package yet still very controllable with the oversized grips. Can't go wrong with either one though.

Some of my pants have deep big pockets. Others have thin shallow pockets. My BW fits them all. While both the BW and Pug are cool guns, I think only the Black Widow fits your need of plinking. Longer sight radius, and with sights that are designed more for precision than for speed. Also, the extra barrel length helps with velocity if you're carrying for defense. If you can only have one, make it the BW! It'll fit your needs, and it'll fit your pockets just fine.  :)

I have the Pug, Black Widow and Mini Master.  I've carried the PUG for years and like it.  My Black Widow is new to me and I've only had it out shooting once.  I'm more accurate with the BW than the Pug.  I haven't tried carrying the BW yet because I don't have a holster for it yet.  But I think it will pocket carry just fine.

I wear regular Walmart jeans, and the BW fits just fine. The Pug carries better, the BW shoots better. Both are cool, fun guns.

Great pics and opinions. Thanks for much. I'm leaning BW as it's more different in size and wanna try something a little different length.
I appreciate the help. Almost at a decision.

I think the Black Widow is perfect for carrying in the front pocket or in a jacket pocket.

The Pug, Black Widow, and the Mini Master are just plain cool with the heavy barrel......
Go ahead and get one (or two) of each.

I don't carry a BW, though I have one, so I can't comment on how it might carry. There are several on the forum who do, and claim it carries as easy as a 1 5/8" mini. If you think logically, it is only 3/8" longer barrel. I suspect it would be the best compromise for your stated purposes. At least until funds allow the other purchases! :)

Well, I pulled the trigger (couldn't resist) and ordered a BWC package with the fixed sights. Trying Bud's for the first time. Not sure why GalleryofGuns didn't offer the convertibles. That's the route I usually go.
Hopefully, I'll have it within the week!

Thanks all!

Hi Greg,

The Black Widow in an easy to carry gun, especially in a pocket holster.  The Holster keeps it upright and in the same position you left it in. No fumbling around to find the grips, no rolling it over in your pocket to get a "combat grip" to come out ready to shoot.

I carry a Black Widow, a Pug, and alternate a 1 5/8" Magnum or 2 1/2" Sidewinder. I do alternate a variety of holsters and use each in different configurations of carry. (Strong Side Pancake, Cross Draw, Pocket, IWB) Though I don't carry the 2 1/2" Sidewinder in a pocket holster.

The Black Widow and the Sidewinder are the most comfortable to shoot. The most uncomfortable is the Wasp. I think its because the grips are so small. They look great but I don't enjoy shooting it. (not that you asked, just to let you know)

Highly recommend the Black Widow. You cant go wrong! (JMHO, get the convertible so you have both cylinders)

The Black Widow was my choice; longer sight lines more velocity. I carry it in my pocket. Sometimes the right front , especially in shorts, the rest of the time in right rear. Have no problem with either location in either the DeSantis or the Sticky pocket holsters.I carry with Gold Dots in the 22 mag. I stick with the fixed sights now...

Well, not sure how long it takes to have a mod release my replies but it takes a while. How many posts does that last before I can reply instantly? lol

I did order the convertible with non-adjustable sights.
I really appreciate all the replies. Rick, love your holsters! I was considering the cross draw but I'm probably too fat to wear it! I might get a iwb. Great pics!

Its also my EDC choice for the reasons everyone else said ;D

You cant go wrong with ether one.

I believe it is 15 posts.  Seems like a long time when you want to be current with conversations.  I went through that too.

Enjoy the BW, I like mine... its a convertible too.

Like everyone says, you can't buy just one. I picked up a 22 short thirty some years ago. Have a 11/8 mag and a Pug, and just picked up a hogleg, that I haven't shot yet. Guess you need at least one of each. Agree on Rick's holsters, I have a crossdraw for the Pug, very well made and it's beautiful to look at.

uncle Miley-  WELCOME aboard!

When buying the Pug, I strongly recommend the night sight version. Bad guys don't typically operate in daylight, and never wait until you get under a street light. Every little bit will help, and being able to locate the front sight in dim or dark conditions will be a huge help.

Test confirmed? lol

Picked up my BW yesterday, got her all cleaned up this morning and hopefully shooting today. I can't believe how nice this feels in hand and the sights are great!

Gog

What a blast to shoot! LR's all shot great and I got out to 10 yards and hit about 20 shots in a row all in a 10" target. Spread all over but all on the paper. I can't see it being better than that!

However, I definitely have a problem with the Mag's. Out of every cylinder I had at least 2 light strikes. All but two shells fired on the second time around but still weird. CCI ammo. All fired great out of my SW too. Interesting.

Lots of fun though.

I'm glad you like the holsters! If the Cross-Draw won't work for you an IWB may not either. You may consider "Strong Side Carry" with a "Pancake" style Holster.
These are so easy to carry it is less hassle than a cell phone case!

Welcome to the Forum Uncle Milty! And thanks for the compliment on the PUG holster.

Oh yeah, a funny (to me anyway) story today.
When I pulled and and started shooting the BW, all the range officers came by wanting to see it and hold it.
Little later I pulled out my Spingfield RO Operator in .45 and nobody payed me any mind. Strange! lol
