Looking for a .22 Trail Gun

I'm thinking that a Mini-Master fulfils all the

requirements, but have a question on accuracy.

Since the M-M bore is for 22 Mag, does this have

any effect on accuracy of the slightly smaller

   diameter 22lr?

Actually I have found the shorts to be the most accurate in my MM.

I like rat shot in mine,,,,,,,,,,, for shooting turd-dles and bottles along the river as well as shooting rover when I catch his owner not looking

What do you recommend for Rover's owner when he puts 2 and 2 together?

Sorry Tac, hit the post button prematurely.

What kind of Trails are you on Tacc?, I carry a 44 mag on the trails for Bears, Cougars, other large animals and for anyone like Rover's owner who might mistake me for MDE or MDI or have any other reason to spoil my enjoyment in a life threatening way.

Tacc1, you have the same idea I have - the Master would make a great trail gun! Slips into a pack or pocket and doesn't add much waight at all. You can even carry it in a Madhat holster as an "open carry" gun (but, remember, either way if you are in the woods, check your hunting laws because you might need to have a small game license to not get into trouble with the Game Wardens).

my MM loves Mini Mags by CCI....at 25 feet I can place all 5 rounds inside a half dollar target with ease. Shorts in the MM do well also as Chopprs states. But I did find that my Black Widow is as accurate as the MM at that range and obviously, more concealable and lighter. What ever you choose, it won't be complete with out a Madhat holster!!

By the way..the bullet diameter is the same between a 22 Magnum and 22lr round. The casings are where the difference lies. It's thought that the number of flutes and degree of rotation play a part in what one firearm prefers over another in the way of ammunition. I haven't explored this my self, so it's here say on my part, but I'm sure there are some here who can explain this further.

I like rat shot too, what a coincidink.

But I mostly use them for snakes.

   And I don't shoot Rovers.

I shoot Kujos, dogs gone bad.

If they don't bother with me,

   I don't bother with them.

   The snapper?

Well, I have to admit that was my bad.

And I think you will be pleased to hear that

since everyone's uproar over proper use of

firearms around bodies of water and the

evironmental concerns over Sea Glass, I have

ceased target practicing by sinking old beer

bottles that other people have left on the

river bank or lake shore, and I have stopped

   shooting into the water.

Now that I have become familiar with my BW and

   it's shooting characteristics and accuracy.

I am pleased with my purchase, it was the right

gun for my immediate need and purpose as a

treasure hunting and metal detecting enthusiast.

I've had pretty good luck with shorts too.

Their not very powerfull, but I think they

would work well for rabbits for dinner out

   in the field...if needed.

22 Mags are loud and they do seem to pack

more of a punch compared to the 22LR but the

added cost of the 22 Mags over the shorts or

22lr just doesn't seem to justify thier use

for my purposes, so most of the time I shoot

22lr or shorts, and I haven't been disappointed.

My Black Widow is small and occupies less space

in my back pocket than my wallet does, yet it's

accuracy out to 45-50 yards has surprised me for

a handgun it's size. Except for the rat shot.

It's pattern spreads out pretty far at 15 feet.

That might be different through a longer barrel.

But what do I know...if there was a locker on

this forum I would probably be locked in it.

Thank you, folks, I guess I was looking for the proverbial answer to the non-existent

problem.  I've got a couple of 22 mini mags, and they are LOUD.  I thought that 22lr in a 4" barrel would be the ticket for accuracy, and what I think is a proper weight for a .22.

I'll be asking my LGS to order a Mini-Master

on Tuesday.  I may even ask for a Mag cylinder,

   just because.

I've contacted MrMadHat thru his web-site for a holster for a B-T. I don't see how you can enjoy a NAA firearm without some of his leather.

Every time the topic comes up here, there are a ton of testemonials.  Can't argue with satisfied owners.  Thanks for taking the time to reply, TACC1.

You will not be dissapointed. It is a wonderful gun!

Any gun you can hit with unless there are large hungry beasts  in that area.   Then go with a caliber needed to handle that situation. Our Texas Governor, Rick Perry, shot a coyote that was looking over his dog for it's lunch on a hiking trail. He used, of all things, a Ruger LCP .380 with factory  laser sights.  The anti-gun liberals kicked up a fuss,  but then, most of Texas consider coyotes a much superior breed of animal than a liberal.
