I fought off the temptation and won (A battle with a beautiful Hogleg)

I've been wanting a 4" Earl with conversion cylinder for some time now.  I never see them at the local shows or in the local gun stores, so I decided that I'll order one from my hometown guy if I don't see one at the incredible Wanenmacher Show in Tulsa on April 1st & 2nd.  (It was a long battle between a Ruger Bearcat and the Earl.  The Earl won.)

However, I went to a show yesterday, and there was a beautiful new Hogleg with conversion cylinder.  The price was OK too.  I fought it off and fought it off all Saturday afternoon.  Even after saying "No" to myself, I was careful to not wash the show-stamp off my hands when showering.  Today (Sunday), it was the battle of the ages, to stay away from that gun show, just 20 miles from my house.  Finally, 5:00 pm CDT rolled around and WHEW!, I did it.  I escaped the temptation.

You consider that a victory?  Over the years (and I got a lot of them) I regret what I didn't do more that anything I ever did.  That really goes for buying guns.  I have nightmares about the ones I let get away.

Unless you pay too much, you can always resell something. :)

Gee guys, I'm starting to feel bad about it now.  Ha!

I learned long ago to be patient and buy the exact firearm that I want.  It isn't a matter of money, but space in my 10 long gun safe (with shelves for handguns).  Not much room left in there.   I have a few that I need to sell off someday.

Uncle_Lee

You really should have bought it.
You can store the cases and boxes some where not in your safe. There may be stuff in the safe that don't need to be there.
You can always put store in shoe boxes..

I'm with ray. You obviously bought too small a safe, so now you need another, bigger one. Problem solved.

I caved in today.   ;)   I saw her at another gun show.  I couldn't resist any longer.  Shot some sub-sonic 22LR's this afternoon. What a NICE handgun.  Very accurate.  I'll load her up with 22 Magnums when I go to the indoor range.

Good for you Stevo now a custom holster by the "KID" , maybe even a flap holster . The "KID" made some beautiful pieces for Unc and I for this hogleg  . Heres mine .

Beautiful work.  Thanks for pics.  Just curious...  Do you guys ever carry your Hoglegs out into public?

Uncle_Lee

Glad to see someone else loves the long barreled ones.
I think they look like they came from the old west.

I want a break top Hogleg. Have plenty of Bearcats, so the wait is on.
Wouldn't a 6 or 8 inch barreled breaktop be awesome?
OK, even a 4 in.

Now yer talkin! I like the idea of a six inch break top. Now that would be way cool.
But then any breaktop would be better than what I have now!  :-\
