Pocket Holster with spare CYLINDER snap pouch (1st prototype)

There was some interest in a pocket holster that carries a spare cylinder vs. 5 spare rounds.

This is the 1st prototype in leather done. The holster in the photos is not "finished", edges are not done, etc...

Depending on how many are interested I would like to get a few out for feedback.

First run of 6 will be Black/Black & only for Black Widow, Pug, or 1-1/8" - 1-5/8" Magnum, at this time (your choice) & (Rt or Lt Hand, I need to know)

PM if interested. Expect 2 week delivery time after 6 requested. If only 1 or 2 people are interested I'll give it a couple days then do their holsters so there will not be a long lag time waiting for delivery.

Thank you, keep the ideas coming!

:) now the wait. Love Rick's work.
And just a friendly bump.

If you was to cut a grove at the bottom of the cylinder pocket it would help geting the cylinder out
Nice job though. I like the job you have done

H'mmm, need to copy investigate that idea cutting out a "push up" window would keep me from needing to drop the cut on each side so you can get your fingers on the cylinder... back to the leather laboratory.....(he said in his evil scientist voice) It's alive!!, oh wait, its still a dead cow  ;D

Thanks for the photo!

Does this mean we might see a push up slot for the cylinder in the prototype?  ;)

I was wondering, I was planning on capping my cylinder so the rounds don't fall out.  Any idea if they would still fit?

I guess it depends on what you plan to "Cap" it with.

The fold over flap I'm building into these will cover the shells so they will not come out but, if you still feel you must cover them make sure it is very thin material so the flap will still snap.

Take a look at the photos I posted of the first prototype. They show the shells covered.

You know you guys brought to mind every holster should have a extra cylinder pouch just so to keep the MANY extra cylinders laying around from being mis-matched with other guns . Myself I have engraved a serial number but still theres no real home for them floating around , sure would like to keep with its specific weapon .
Hey Rich have you ever been able to copy that Freedom Arms belt flap pouch ?

Anyone know where a fella  ,name is Jeff , forgot his call name but he also was making some beautiful pieces but as fallen off the map , any help out there . I was talking to him about these Freedom Arms pouches , sorry Jeff ,where the heck are you ?

Pugmeister that's it , the mind works still .

Looks really cool Rick. Looks like you will get some more of my money soon. Get a holster from Rick with confidence, the 2 I have are very well made and fit great!

Ya all know I like to make my own holsters but when I saw Ricks work I got in on that beta testing for his pocket holster, I also got one of Ricks Cross draw holsters for my Black Widow. Very nice Holster well made and looks sharp.
Thanks Rick this holster is the cats meow. Can't wait to try out the pocket Holster.

What nice holsters. I love the looks and feel of Rick's holsters ;D

.

Very nice, Rich -  but wouldn't a "rough side out" construction be better for a pocket holster, anchoring it for the draw ?

EvilWayz: Could you please disclose what those cylinder caps are, and where you obtained them ?

Yes, I believe it would be better because of the additional friction. (no one will buy them  :P)

I made some like that (3 or 4) and they never sold, they just took up space in the display. I ended up giving them away to customers I knew had a gun that would fit one and just tossed it in the shipping box N/C with their other leather gear order.

So now I only do smooth out unless asked (and I have never been asked for a "Rough out" order). But I'll do it!!

I carry one like this (smooth out) for my Black Widow (I got it for free!!!) lol!!

I had a guy see my business name on my shirt at the grocery store, started talking holsters & guns, he had a BW and asked about "pocket carry" I showed him mine from my pocket. He bought it right there in the freezer section! I offered to send him a new one but he liked this one because it was "broke in" and fit his gun and butt perfect (he carried in his back pocket too). :)

(I'm in Arizona so most people don't freak out at the sight of guns in public) It was a little weird doing this in the freezer section at the store!  ::)

With the "catch" on the front and using my thumb to "push off" while drawing I have never had mine come out with my gun. I draw it no less than 8 times a day (50 if I'm at a gun show) to show customers.

Personally I thing no slot is better

I believe it won't be needed, but could be done if asked by someone.

Question, is the pouch for the cylinder designed to fit a matched 22 LR cylinder only? Or will it work should someone have a second cylinder in the 22 MAG?

Thanks

I wouldn't mind hearing the answer to this, I have a .22 convertible cylinder and a bull cylinder for my Pug.
And Hades followed with him...

Bigbird48

I can't say for sure but it would be logical to make it to fit the mag and then the LR would also fit. ;D

If one has the magnum framed gun the cylinders for both .22 mag and .22 lr are the same size. Only the chambers are different.

I have used a single layer of Scotch tape across the top of the cylinder to keep the rounds from falling out. Works good will still fit in the gun and function properly

Magwell

Just had a great conversation with Rick! Ordered up a couple of holsters! Very nice guy to deal with!!

Shout out to Bigbird48 for pointing me in the right direction!!
