Need help in decisions

So, I'm torn between the 22lr and the 22 mag or the pug which I know is also a magnum. Anyways it will be in the pocket as a backup mainly but occasionally on the ankle too. I'm trying to decide if the mag is worth the extra size over the 22lr? I've held both but just can't make up my mind. Any opinions on someone who has carried both would be greatly appreciated.

Oh go with the mag. little if any noticeable cc difference and haveing that little extra kick in the mag is always a good thing and a BW give you just a little more accuracy. I carry one in my pocket in a holsster no big deal.

I would recommend getting the MAG with an additional 22LR cylinder.  That way you can shoot both.  22LR is cheaper to practice with.  I have a PUG with both cylinders.

I have both.  I carry the LR around the farm and put the mag in my pocket for social occasions.  Both have the folding holster grip.  I never notice the difference in size and would probably always carry the mag/LR convertible if I wasn't to lazy to change cylinders.

Yes if you can get both LR & MAG go for it, best of both worlds. I always carry the Mag when  going to the city which is very ofter, but to go plinkin I switch to LR, only takea a couple mins to make the switch saves dollars for ammo LOL if ya can find ammo LOL

I just sent my Pug off to Utah to get a .22LR and a Bull magnum cylinder.  But if the Black Widow had a tritium front dot, I'd be on that sucker in a heartbeat.
And Hades followed with him...

My 22LR  (1-1/8" barrel) absolutely conceals in my jeans pocket.  Good for places where firearms aren't welcomed.

The outline of my 22 Mag (1-5/8" barrel)  "prints" a little too much in my jeans pocket for those places.  But I carry it when that isn't an issue.

I carry one or the other 100% of the time.  Each has it's purpose.  Get both.

I recommend the magnum.

BUT ------ If you can swing it....
Get both. You will have both eventually.

One thing to consider is, at least here in Virginia, LR is available at reasonable prices but it is hard to even find Mag ammo.  Of course a convertible solves that problem.

I agree with all of the above opinions. The mag is more user friendly and practical, but I really like being able to hide the smaller LR version in my fist as I walk through really sketchy inner city parking lots at night. I have a Black Widow and a LR, and those two pretty much cover my really deep cover and back up needs. If you get a mag, get both cylinders! Flexibility is good, and 22 mags are $$$!

Ruger

With so little size difference between the two, go with the 22 mag. since it is, as you said, mainly a backup; it would still be smaller than the 1911 on your hip.  ;D

BNH,
I would recommend the magnum with the spare 22 lr cylinder.  No matter though in due time, you will have several of those good gadgets.

Thanks for all the great info guys! I went ahead and went with the pug. I forgot how small it was. And yes I already am looking at the lr22 and the black window for my next purchases!!

The Pug is awesome.  I love the weight and balance.  And it carries like a dream.
