I am calling them "Big Birds" It is just for my own satisfaction, and they are a work in progress. So far they are a little tiny bit smaller than the BW Grips and fit the gun a little bit farther back. Please give any thought you might to improve on the next Set. The wood is Cherry and is actually a little darker and not as yellow as some of the pictures. The final finish will be less gloss than the base coats you see now. I am having difficulty finding an appropriate screw and nut to fit on the grips, so any suggestions would help there.
In one shot I have laid the BW grip on one side and the Big Bird on the other so you can see the difference.

The color seems closest in the second picture...I think it has to do with the flourescent lights. The second picture was taken with a flash.

I sure do like the looks of the wood grips...very nice.

Nice looking grips and you named them after me so I get a set for free right! ;D

Nice job. I like the red finish.

Some one has used rare earth magnets to keep the grips on his gun. The report was if they fit correctly, he had no problem with them staying in place.

The red is actually the color of the Cherry wood. They are clear finished.

Thanks for the help. Today I got the set of screw parts for my new grips and the project is done. Now I have a new conundrum, I like the way the grips look, but I seem to like the look better without the laser; Which do you think looks Better?

Nice job. Like the cherry. Ditch the laser.

I'm so glad to see others making their beautiful pieces , I bet Canoeal you have a great deal of pride in making those wonderful grips . Theres not that much to putting these things together from start to finish and takes ones mind from thinking about buying more mini's , its a sight cheaper till the real itch comes up . Theres a few of us on here , hope all the others show their wares again , by showing pictures gives ideas for others . My big trouble is I can't part with anything I make go figure , that's why I'm not a real businessman at the end of the day . I've told some just how to do some set-ups , just a little ingenuity makes stuff come together . Linseed oil was mentioned , it works great and there are a number of exotic oil finishes out there . Keep going , thanks .

I'll have to go back to that coin flippen thingy, looks good both ways. :)

I think the laser will get minimal use, like going into the city. Funny thing it seems, I just got the bore sighter, the laser and the fixed sights to match up exactly at 10 yds...

I took the BW with the new grips to the range today. Shot good targets @ 10 & 15 yds. I think the grips are keepers.
