Are you a gun engineer ? Have you  seen these in person? Looking at the design it doesn't look possible to wrist snap it open. I looks like you have to manually release by pushing of pulling on the lever, and the opening the gun.

The first time some idiot wrist-snaps one of these open, he's going to bend the frame.
The gun would be a much better design in .22lr only, with a shorter frame and cylinder.

I must be more of a gun engineer than you, because you could obviously pull the latch back with your thumb, and snap the gun open.
Regardless, when the gun is open there is nothing reinforcing the thin frame, and there are plenty of idiots that will flip the gun open or closed.

So, we told you about the Ranger II, but we have more to say.
Ranger II Progress

So we finally did it! We released information about our upcoming Ranger II. We know you have all been waiting for a long time with this information, and our phones and inboxes have been full ever since. We wanted to give you what you wanted. More information on the Ranger II. So here it comes.

Sandy, our CEO, came to the factory to make sure everything was going to plan. He had some exciting things to say and posted in his Soapbox on our website. In case you missed it, here is what he said.

I was at the factory yesterday and will be returning tomorrow to visit with the manufacturing/engineering consultant who is scheduled to arrive today, and who will remain onsite "almost" until the project is ready for introduction.

While I am encouraged by what I see as the progress we've made and the brightness of the light at the end of the tunnel, I'm all too aware of the variety and unanticipated nature of the pitfalls which may yet remain between "here and there", to include vendor cooperation/performance, continued tweaking to achieve a production-grade product and procedures, etc. etc.

I still have every reason to believe we can achieve our goal of "before Christmas" and "under $500".

Yes, I expect we will offer an Early Bird purchase opportunity for registered members of our Message Board community – details to follow.

I look forward to reporting on our continued progress with firmer details as they become available.  I appreciate your interest and your patience.

Here's a cut and paste of the e-mail.  Photos didn't survive.
Not really anything new, just reinforcement.

I believe the resistance caused by the automatic extractor would prevent wrist snapping the gun open. Could be wrong.

Haven't posted in quite some time. I for one am really looking forward to the Ranger II! I have 3 of the sidewinders plus other models.

Warthog

Well, I only have one Sidewinder, 22 Magnum.  I really do want one of the Ranger revolvers, 22 magnum.  I would like this in the Magnum rather than short or Long rifle.  I would likely even carry mine now and then or as a back up for my usual 9mm that I have.  In any case I will be sure to be in line to get one of these.  Have my FFL ready and I have money for it so let's get it done!  ;D

Warty, I think you must make 10 posts before they take you off "probation". Just post in a lot of topics and you'll soon be free!

Really looking forward to seeing this up close and personal. The sidewinder never really got my attention but this is another story.

Good morning ADMINISRATOR have another question for NAA . Is this model II going to be a full production piece or again just so many produced ? Inquiring mind needs to know .  ??? ???
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I wonder will the speed loaders work with it

autofull

im a very patient guy. but when i have the chance look out. i shall own two if i can. one to shoot and one to pass on.

boddah4

I am looking forward to one of these as well. How did the early bird special work in the past? Send $ to NAA directly and then have it sent to FFL?  Didn't they get special serial numbers?

lign

I don't think that wrist-snapping would be an issue. I have quite a few of the old top-breaks and the resistance of extraction prevents it. Don't know if the Ranger II has auto extraction or not. Anyway, that seems like abuse.

I CAN'T WAIT to get one of these. I'll never forget how horrified I was when I finally had some extra cash to buy one and discovered that they had been discontinued. That isn't going to happen to me this time, even if I have to sell one of my other babies to get one. :P

Anyone know how to get added to the newsletter/email list for real? I've tried and it says it worked, but I get no e-mails. Checked all my folders too. :'(

Is it looking g like the new ranger II will be 22 mag only?

yeah, i would love it smaller and in 22lr myself, just my two.  kevin.

autofull

oh, but then i would like a tiny 22lr only sidewinder also. i luv tiny-er.  kevin.

Warthog

I would accept it in 22LR but I really want one in 22 magnum most.  I'd carry it and love it and shoot it.  22 Ma g is the one I really want!  8)

i thought i read that someone called the factory and they said 22 mag only, but i cant remember who

Warthog

This does seem like it will work well with the ds-speed Speed Loader in either LR or WMR.

I guess I am wanting one in WMR but I would accept it in LR as well.

I do have some trouble with larger calibers but at least now, I can still fire a 44 mag but that is my limit.

gunaddict

Guns this beautiful make for the need for a gun rehab center. I can feel the urge to buy one already I need serious help 😰

Lemon

heyjoe you are correct. I read the same post and someone did say they were told by NAA that it would be only be available in magnum. Now if that is accurate that the person was told that I can not verify but as I said you are correct that someone posted that information.

Arts09

22 Mag only for me at the price range there talking about right now. Before i get hammered, there is nothing wrong with 22lr and own a few myself. Offering it with the different cylinder options would make everybody happy.   :)
