.22 mini cylinder compatibility

Hi all. I recently purchased my first mini at a gun show. It's a .22 mag, 1 5/8" barrel. I've only had it for about a month but have fallen in love with it already. While I'm sure that I'll be adding more to the cabinet my question is this; Will a .22LR cylinder from an unknown NAA mini frame fit my .22 mag? I haven't seen anything definitive on any other threads but 1 and it was comparing the cylinders between mini's that came with both (but I didn't look at every NAA page either;). Just wondering for 1 reason, the .22 WMR ammo is is readily available and fun to send down range but costly compared to the .22LR. I have seen used NAA mini .22LR cylinders for sale but no mention of the frame it was originally on which is why I'm here. Are the .22LR cylinders the same length as their magnum counterparts? And I DID come across timing compatibility but it didn't seem to be a huge issue. Any thoughts you long time mini ownwer's have is welcomed and appreciated! :)

I would just call NAA customer service. You can probably get a LR cylinder no problem but you'll need to send in the gun so they can "time" the cylinder to your particular firearm. You don't want to just drop one in and it not be timed correctly (or so I'm told). I don't think it costs all that much and Naa customer service is very pleasant to deal with!

Welcome to the forums!!

The .22 LR frame & cylinder is shorter than the .22 mags. The .22 LR interchangeable cylinders would have to be made for the .22 mag frame.

I agree totally with Gog.  I'm also not sure if the cylinder pin drilling is identical between different NAA models.  Send it in.

I have seen  both LR and mag cylinders on eBay and gun broker, usually in the $75-$120 range. NAA only charges $50 for a brand new one, timed/fitted to your gun. The timing thing is kinda important. You don't want the alignment to be off by any amount when the bullet makes the jump from chamber to barrel.

Thanks for all the guidance! As I've been looking around since this post, I've pretty much decided to change course just a tad. I certianly don't want timing issues and I don't want to be without it either. What a pinch. I've spent several hours on Buds site (mostly, but found this gem on gun brokerhttp://www.gunbroker.com/item/674972106). I'm gonna get another mini with both cylinders and then make arrangements with NAA to have a .22LR fitted and timed for my current model. I also have my eye on that bug out model....thanks grayelky. These little buggers are gonna get me in trouble.....they're like a Lay's potato chip lol
