Have y'all seen this yet?

CRitter

It's not a very in depth review on the Pug, but it's got a very interesting velocity chart.

ikoiko

Velocities seem really high for a short barrel.

I am thinking most of those velocities are about 500 - 600 fps faster than I've ever seen reported. Especially from a ported barrel.

grayelky

Those velocities are from the 4" Earl. Too high to be from a 1" Pug.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

The Earl was in a separate write up and had it's own chart. Most of those velocities were actually lower than they showed for the Pug.

Very few factory 22 loads are real constant besides why bother . Unless your an Olympic shooter looking for micro milliseconds , even this is kinda ridiculous I figure but again why does it matter . Just an opinion mind ya .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

CRitter

It only matters to me because it is so different from any other tests I've seen. If the velocities were a little higher or lower than I've commonly seen, it would be understandable. But these velocities are almost double what are usually reported. It makes me wonder whether or not the author actually shot and tested the gun. It could be they just mixed up some charts at printing time.

The velocities in the article are way off. Check this out. Velocity by barrel length. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/calibers.html

I just read the article & was going to post the same. They show the Pug faster than the Earl & both MUCH faster than the figures listed on the NAA site. Who ever wrote that article & the proofreader both goofed BIG TIME. Time for all of us to bombard the magazine with comments.

I sent an E-mail to G&A & was surprised to receive a very quick reply from the author especially as late as it was.. I don't want to possibly misquote him so you might want to ask as well. He does seem to agree that it is odd.

The ballistics by the inch is a good article.

I have a PUG magnum. Can I also shoot .22 LR in this barrel?

JRobyn

In a word - NO.

.22 LR has the same diameter bullet, but a smaller diameter casing.  So it is too small to properly fill a .22 mag chamber.  Many have tried it, and many have ruptured/split the brass case with unpleasant results.

However, if you send in your .22 mag to NAA, they will fix you up with a .22 LR cylinder that WILL fit and will be properly timed in your frame, and for a quite reasonable price.

Barrel YES - Cylinder MAGNUM NO . Need Long Rifle cylinder to shoot L.R. But again barrels are the same for both magnum and long rifle ..
