Thanks for the tip!  I wondered how well the capsule stayed in place, and didn't think about how tricky it would be to crimp.

The other day I decided to try it again. This time I had a Gallon jug thingy but it was a protein shake kinda thing and the plastic was WAY thicker and heavier duty. lol
Made for interesting shooting. I was getting a lot of bounce backs so I kept moving closer (guess I don't 'learn real good' cause it stung). Finally, I got to about 7 feet and the shot finally at least stuck in the plastic. Only a few ever made it though. Probably a lot like how skin would react. Forgot to take pics but the son and I had a blast...

I once had a 45 ACP bounce back, knock my glasses off, knock one lenses out of glasses, and draw a little red stuff.  That was with shooting falling plates up close at a club that had a flat verticle base for holding the plates.  I noticed on a TV program another setup that had an angle on the base to deflect toward the ground.

With CCI shot you have low velocity rebound from the lead shot plus plastic shrapnal from the capsule.  Other shells that are crimped have more power and tend to stick into the (wood) backstop.

Quite a mess on the floor.  Never had one come apart in the gun but that would not be good.

The crimped ones have a brass "shot cup" that would probably do more damage than the shot.

Ah, didn't think it might be the plastic coming back. Makes sense.
