Hi

I am new here and have CC for about 38 years and I was guilty of big caliber carry or nothing. I went from wheel guns to autos and now back towards wheel guns. I have grown tired of everything going plastic. I enjoy quality wood and steel. And that is why I am here.

I am looking for my first NAA , I am leaning towards  a BW for my first and then if that is not small enough I will drop in size.

I would suggest the fixed sights. The adjustable are just (in my opinion) too bulky for concealed carry. It would be a huge boost if it had an XS Big Dot trit, like the Pug.

Black Widows re great for concealed carry.  I carry one often.  Usually as a back up but they are great guns and will do what you need if it happens.

I love my 22 mag BW. I to would agree on the fixed sights version. For me it is the best to do both carry and shoot.

Thanks guys I was thinking of the fixed sights combo version for my first and if that was not small enough, I could add a smaller standard model as well.

Welcome keithd,
I will go along with the Black Widow with fixed sights.
The adjustable ones seem to grab everything around.

38 years of uneventful C.C. never had to draw. Came close a few times but chose to stare them down and use logic on them, well it was more like baffling them with a BS bluff. Either way I always had the confidence when I carried that if all else failed I would prevail. I have always believed in using my brain as first means to deter a conflict without violence to be the utmost defensive tool in my quiver.

Keithd,
Welcome to the forum. I think that the Black Widow in 22 mag w/LR auxillary cylinder would be the way to go.

But soon you will have other NAA Minis to join it.

Don't try to fight the urge to get more Minis, just do what Uncle Lee does and put them in a shoe box,no one will know!!!!!!!!

I doubt anyone here is knocking the big guns! I love to shoot my .357's in all shapes and forms I have. However, I cannot get past the ease of the Black Widow in carrying ALL the time. It's just too easy to drop in a pocket with no one seeing it!

Welcome Keith. The BW is the perfect size for better accuracy and concealment . With the 2" barrel it gets a little better accuracy then the shorter ones and it still drops in the pocket nicely or in a belt holster with untucked shirt. I call it my American Express Gun cause I never leave home with out it.So what part of the Granite State do you hale from?

Bigbird48

Oh one other thing You said your First NAA so you do understand you will buy more  ;D ;D ;)

I think the 1.6 inch magnum is a good first naa.  I like the fluted cylinders.  If you like wood grips the stock magnum grips are not all that bad and you can grip them pretty well.

Very compact and with good ammo its a good edc.

And cheap.

Bigbird, that is an awesome set up you got there!

You'll enjoy the BW, it's an awesome piece. Check out this web site: https://www.fwtguns.com/  before you purchase. They have some great prices on most of the NAA's!

Wounds of the flesh a surgeon's skill may heal but wounded honour is only cured with steel.

Bigbird48

Why? you loose accuracy with that short barrel

RogueTS1

Bah............... It fits better in the pocket and most of all looks so much nicer with the proper grips on it.

I'll admit it looks nice but accuracy suffers ;D

That is just one of many of the excuses used by those on this forum that creates the ever expanding number of minis in one's possession.  ::)

I like both of those guns, here are my BWs, two convertibles 22LR/22Mag and one 17HMR(the one w/the BW grip).  Below is one of my two consecutive serial numbered PUGs with the new CVang grip I got for it.  8)
