How to Shoot A Mini Effectively

I ran across what IMHO is the best hold, for firing a Mini, over 30 years ago in a (then) current Gun Digest or Shooter's Bible (I'm mis-remembering which, at this remove) article.

The Mini is held within the tight fist of the shooting hand, then the off hand's fingers overwrap the fist (for a 2-hand hold) - the thumb of the off hand cocking the hammer, and using whatever finger is the most comfortable pulling the trigger.

Sounds right.  That is how I shoot mine.  Good stuff Pietro!

I also practice one handed shooting. The Black Widow is often a backup for me, and I might have to use it after being injured. Plus it's fun to shoot the BW with one hand. My Cvang grips help me to grip consistently, in addition to looking good.

Yep; I do the same. Also how I hold and shoot my bond Snake Slayer.
A very effective And steady grip. Same type of trigger on both.

Interesting, my hands are so big I have to be careful with small hand guns to keep all my fingers behind the muzzle and away from the cylinder gap. Getting more than one finger and a bit on the grip isn't usually possible either. I must give this  a try, the model's hands are a fraction of the size of mine, that looks like my hands on a J frame :)

Which caliber did you go with? I've sure wanted to try one but seems it would be one hell of a kick for a big caliber.

I prefer to shoot my mini one handed.  To me the main advantage to the mini is the element of surprise.  From hand in pocket to hole in bad guy should all be a complete surprise.

If she/he were to squeeze that mini any harder I think we might need to be concerned about an ischemic attack.  :-[

It does not take that much pressure to hold/handle one of these minis.  :o

I, too, use a similar grip presentation, although I use my second weak hand to cock the hammer only.  Different grips really result in different results.  And there is that trade off of big grips to less concealability.  Especially when wearing my speedo . . .

This plus a zillion.

The whole object aside from above, is the mini is a gun for the VERY close encounter. Like in arms length. In a violent encounter at that close a range, you won't be shooting two handed. And you'll probably be leaving powder burns on your attacker.

Yeah, now that I think about it I do tend towards one handed shooting of my Minis.  Good point, plus since these aren't long range weapons, maybe 10-15 feet, it should be fine to use one hand.

My Bond is in 45 Colt, not bad recoil with the two handed "Squaw Grip" as shown. I also have a 22 mag barrel.

It's a given that a sudden confrontation would likewise require a sudden shot, best done singlehandedly

but

if time affords, the shot(s) can be delivered with more accuracy using a two-hand hold.

I practice one handed my self. Will try this method today at the range.
