Nice Joe!  Glad you were able to get a bayonet.  If I had two, I would gladly have sent one to you.

Thanks. I knew I would eventually find one. Almost bought another off eBay but it got up to over 80 bucks. Way outta my price range for that.

Warthog

Yeah, mine too, I'd like to get another but I suppose I will just make do with the one. 8)

Smokeless Joe is that a inserted barrel on the LCR ? And the shorty with the fingernail cleaner is always a nice picture ,thanks . :)
I'd have to say yes on the inserted barrel. It's def not the same material as the frame itself.

I went to the range with my twenty something daughter a few days ago. Her favorite guns that I own are a couple of Ruger revolvers in .357 caliber. The last time we were shooting she mentioned that we had not shot any .357 in a long time. That is true, because I hate magnums and always shoot .38s. I asked her why she wanted to shoot .357 and she said she liked how loud they are. Anyway, this time I made sure to put a box of .357 in the shooting bag. When I handed her the box at the bench I suggested that she not shoot more than ten of them. She asked if that was because they were really expensive, and I told her that she might bruise her hand if she shot a lot of .357. Well, she loaded up the SP101, her favorite, and started shooting. After two rounds she had to take a break and told me to shoot. I loaded my Vaquero with .38 and shot a cylinder. By then my daughter was ready to finish off the five rounds of .357, and switched to .38s. We put a hundred rounds of Aguila .38 through the guns. She shot most of that hundred rounds while I switched to my .22s. And she had a bruised hand from the .357. Considering how .357 feels when I shoot my SP101, I am not tempted to try it out of a LCR!

My SP101 is in 9mm I put a hogue monogrip on it and it made a world of difference in comfort and handling. I actually have the LCR in 357 and find it very manageable as is, surprisingly as it may sound.

Joe - that is a good looking pair of guns. I see that you have the 3" SP101 like me. I have always thought it was the most balanced looking of the barrel lengths. Regarding the grips, it is kind of a moot point to me. I bought my SP101 intending for it to be my carry gun. It was just too big for the way I dress (I live in a hot climate) but I like it so much I cannot bear to sell it. So I really have no reason to shoot magnums since I do not carry it.

When I first saw a LCR I thought it was an ugly gun, but over the years it has grown on me. Maybe someday I will give one a try. I have held a couple at the shop and I figure that if I get one it will be the SP101 again: too bulky for my carry and too sweet to part with!

I too live in a warm climate so the SP101 stays in the nightstand. At one time I had a 2" SP101 in 357 and I sold it because it was painful to shoot. The LCR is much easier on the hand. They designed this thing to be lightweight and still pack the power. I carry it often in a sticky holster.

Canoeal

Best as I can figure the Lcr in .357 is not a gun for those who shoot. It is strictly a carry gun, and I bet many of the purchasers are practicing with a .22lr or a ,22 mag, if they practice at all ...Ok, may be a .38 with low recoil loads...Not my kind of gun for sure...ouch!

I had an LCR in .357, but never shot a single .357 in it. The .38s were stout enough. I bought it to get the extra weight and strength of the stainless frame.

I've never put .357s in my 2.25" SP101 either. 38s are comfortable. I'm like a lot of posters, thought the SP would be good for carry after reading a lot of hype. Just too bulky and heavy, so it's the house gun.

I carry my Sp101.  Also, shooting 38's out of a 357 works but eventually you will erode the chamber, the 38's are shorter than the 357s.  I load my 357 cases with a 38 load, so they don't damage the gun.

Doesn't necessarily erode anything, but you will get a carbon ring if you don't clean the chambers well. That will stop .357s from chambering completely.

I have never shot a .357 round out of my Vaquero. I shoot it for fun, and .357 ain't fun, for me. Of course, some folks such as my daughter like a really loud bang. It was kind of funny how it took just two rounds to remind her why we do not shoot it regularly. The Vaquero is heavy enough to handle the kick better if we were determined to shoot magnums. It and the Sp101 are both really accurate and fun at the range.

Whoa, I'm not saying it won't erode the chambers. I said not necessarily (if you keep the ring cleaned out). I've seen lots of posts and articles over the years that say the same. Shooting thousands of 38 rounds through a 357 without permanent harm, unless the 38 carbon ring has been allowed to build up. You still get a carbon ring in the chambers with 357, it's just 1/8" farther up. Good cleaning gets rid of either one.

It doesn't matter how clean you keep it. You are the one who knows though, not trying to tell you because you already know.

Yeah, me too! I hated to sell it, but I had to get rid of something or not go to the SHOT Show in Vegas in January. No job, no money coming in. :( It as a fair tradeoff. Maybe.

Impressive collection MR_22. I had a Taurus 38spl at one time. Sold it and still regret it.

SmokelessJoe - if you keep posting LCR photos you could persuade me to do something that I am trying not to do.

Very cool Taurus collection, Mr_22!

Here is another of mine. Compared to some of you folks my collection is very small. First is a RG model 66. I bought it in 1975 when I got out of the Navy. For several years it was my camping, fishing, and plinking gun. You might think that the aluminum frame would not be too durable, but it took a good deal of abuse and is still in good shape. About 1979 I wanted to buy a pocket pistol so I took my RG to a gun shop and asked about trading it in on a used Sterling semi that they had. The proprietor told me that he did not want to deal in low quality arms like RG. Well, I kept the RG and bought the Sterling. The RG is three times the quality that the Sterling ever dreamed of being. The Sterling never wanted to shoot a whole magazine without a jam, and the RG is still working flawlessly. Thank goodness that guy did not want to take it!

Here is a Ruger Single Six. It is a very nice revolver indeed. I really like the bird head grips and the short (3") barrel. It is still too big for easy pocket carry.

I am also posting a couple of photos of the Ruger with the RG. There are two things about the RG that I like better than the Ruger. Notice the crown. I like the old style crown on the RG. The other thing is the hammer. The RG has four positions for the hammer. All the way down, 1/3 cock, where you can remove the cylinder, 2/3 cock where you can spin the cylinder, and full cock. There is a different quality to the sound of the click for each position.

The Taurus 94 revolver in .22LR was one of my first Taurus revolvers. It's the only Taurus I've sold because I didn't like it! The trigger pull was horrendous. So that's right, no .22's.

Canoeal

I have tried triggers on more than a couple Taurus models. It seems to me the trigger pull is a crap shoot. Some seem really nice then there are others that you can keep. JMHO...

that's a shame... i like having at least a couple .22 wheelguns because of the ability to use less expensive practice ammo and different types of rimfire: shorts, CB shorts, longs, colibri, SV, HV, Velocitors, and Stingers

don't know much about Taurus wheelguns... i wonder if they are like others in that the trigger pull can smooth out over time?
