hey folks - it's that day of the week again... had an outdoor night range session Monday night (ran a stainless 10/22 Takedown and a Sub-2000 9mm), so today i took my neighbor Bob to the range across the street for a light repast with my Bear[cat] family: Papa Bearcat, Momma Bearcat, and Baby Bearcat - lots of fun!

Uncle_Lee

That is a very nice trio.

You can't have more fun (with a gun) than a Bearcat !

tks fellas... to be honest i was a little sore today (shooting elbow), but the little single-action rimfires are easy on the recoil and force me to slow down and enjoy the process... it was great fun...

and now i get to clean three wheelguns (which i enjoy doing, too)

Yeah I find that cleaning a pistol seems to calm my inner beast

hey folks - a bit of sadness in the casa as my 90-yr-old father-in-law passed away... but i took a little time to pay homage to his expertise and to see if his 60-yr-old Colt 357 target revolver that he bequeathed to me still shot well at 25 yards... i was pretty happy to hit the target, so i did 25 rounds...

he was a better shot than me back then for sure

Uncle_Lee

I am sad for you and yours but at the same time I feel happy for you.

tks... it has been hard... worst part was my wife was not able to say goodbye, and was not allowed into the hospital.. he fell, broke his hip, had it pinned, went to rehab for a day, then collapsed and languished in hospital for four days.. we never got a chance to even hold his hand...

i also have a basically unused Colt Trooper III that i will shoot on his upcoming birthday (he died just shy of his 91st)

Jean lost her father a month ago. 95 yo had a burst appendix. He survived the surgery but with dementia, was in no condition to recover. They did get to move him to a hospice that allowed 2 visitors at a time all day. Was there 2 weeks. Sad way to go. Found out that his service part was not true, so I corrected it He was a corporal in the 90th Chemical Mortar unit. At Remagen Bridge, with his unit, and on down to Nuremburg. In and out through France, not Italy

Sorry for your loss Willie. You as well Al. Nice wheel gun to remember him by. That's how I got my Ruger sp101 9mm. It belonged to my mother. It's in the nightstand next to my bed so mom can look out for me while I rest. Here's a pic just because.

RangerJim

I'm sorry for all of the losses expressed here—and I can certainly empathize.

When my father-in-law passed away in 2012, he bequeathed to me his single NAA firearm—an original Black Widow (seen below)—along with a small number of other collectible firearms.  Although I only new him for about six years before he died, he had no idea the impact he would have on my life.  Before I met him, I only had one pistol—a Glock 19 (Zzzzzzzzzz)—and never considered guns as collectibles ...  They were nothing more than self-defense tools.

Well, flash forward eight years ... I now have more than 100 firearms—most of which are mini revolvers and mini semi-auto-pistols.

Curse you, Chuck!  >:(

Bless you, Chuck!  :D
So, making guns illegal will take them off the street?
Perfect!  We should probably make heroine and meth illegal, too!

Hmm, is it Wednesday again already?!  ;D ;D ;D

I picked up this revolver today. I traded a bunch of ammo for it. It's the 8-shot double-barrel Thunderstruck S333 by Standard Manufacturing in .22-Magnum. It fires two rounds with every trigger pull. I've been planning to get one since I handled one at the SHOT Show awhile back. I'm impressed. It actually seems to be quite well built.

Can't wait to try it out.

Nice pistols Texduk. Is the Taurus a lightweight model?

Thanks,  no,   not light weight, just the 856,  2" snubby w concealed hammer.
My wife and I went to the LGS,  looking for a previously owned Ruger 10/22
that was there for quite awhile.
It was sold,  We seen this Taurus in the counter,  and brought it home.   8)
cleaned,  and ready for a range visit

Here's my Taurus 856, which is the light model. In fact, it's the Hy-Lite, which is lighter than the titanium Ultralight. My 856 is made of magnesium. Very light, but it's not rated for +P rounds. That' OK, tho, I found a good Hornady hollow-point round that works well in it.

Taurus doesn't make this model in magnesium anymore. I've had it for quite a while, now, maybe 8 or 10 years.

That grip looks really comfortable

some mighty fine Tauri, folks! i have a number of .38SPLs: Smith 637, 60, Colt Agent, but my favorite is this one, which was accurate, smooth out of the box, comfy in the hand, and easy on the wallet:

Yeah, it really is. It's a custom-made grip I got on ebay a long time ago. I bought it for my Taurus 94 in .22LR, but the trigger pull was so hard that I eventually sold it. It's the only Taurus revolver i didn't like (and I've had plenty). It's a small grip, so it fits tight in your hand and concealed well, too.
