I have found when purchasing some thing new that the anticipation is half the fun. After I get it and fondle it I start to think what gun is next!!  Just me than I am a collector.

Exactly. By the time you get it, the majority of the satisfaction is over. Time to think about the next one. :D

Posting and posting in this thread isn't likely to make it happen any sooner.

No, it won't, but it may increase the anticipation and excitement level! Isn't that why we keep talking about it?

Part of the fun of owning a gun is being able to talk about it. Doing it in advance gets it out of the way so when it arrives there are less things to do before you can justify buying the next one :)

My wife does not understand my need want desire for more new different guns but she does not give me a hard time about it either. I do find it easier to just show up with them than to mention it in advance. Who else's significant other doesn't know you have rangers coming to your home in the near future yet?

Hey, David:
Like you, my wife doesn't know either ... but I don't think she'd care.  She understands my obsession with guns.  She also appreciates that I work hard, and need a stress-relieving hobby like collecting guns.  She's a keeper!   ;D
So, making guns illegal will take them off the street?
Perfect!  We should probably make heroine and meth illegal, too!

Guns are like motorcycles, once you have a certain amount of them your wife doesn't even notice if you have another one as long as you don't let her see them all at once.

One good thing about buying guns is that at least they seem to keep their value or appreciate a bit. If you spend the same money on something like a vacation, you can never get it back if you hit hard times. Buying  guns is a lot more like saving money in the bank, compared to most hobbies. The same with my motorcycles in the main, most are classics that seem to be appreciating in value over time, some others are at least worth what I paid,  which means the money I've spent is recoverable if necessary. It would break my heart to have to sell any of my guns or motorcycles, but it would be better than being broke and all the misery that can bring to a family.

Basically my wife's attitude towards anything I'm interested in buyin. So long as the bills are paid she doesn't care where the rest of the money goes.

I fit right in here (about).
My wife doesn't know they are coming.
She doesn't understand my obsession but she accepts it.

She never knows that is one coming until I start getting dressed and say "I have to run down to Norman's".

One time my wife got home from work and texted me wondering where I was at. When I told her I was at my LGS she figured out I was picking up another gun. She never is upset after I get one, but she will try to dissuade me from a purchase before the fact. She's a keeper too.

My wife is wonderful too about my purchases, she may say something like "you bought another one?" but that's not a rebuke of me doing it, just surprise that I wanted, or thought I needed, another gun or motorcycle. I'm sure the fact I spoil her too and never discourage her from having what she wants helps as well, there has to be that sort of balance. It's also a plus that my wife likes guns and motorcycles too. earlier in the year I decided to buy an almost new motorcycle for some touring, I felt a little guilty about the purchase because this was not going to be a good investment, horrid thoughts of depreciation filled my mind :) As a result I decided I would sell my 1973 Triumph Tiger, so that coupled with another newer bike I was selling, I would not be shelling out additional money on the project. When I told my wife what I was thinking she told me, "you can't sell that, I like it" - needless to say I didn't argue the point - definitely a keeper, many women may tolerate such behavior, few would actively enable it :)

Two very good points, Redhawk. By now, my wife knows I'm buying guns that she doesn't know about. I have too many for me to have told her about them all. She still rolls her eyes, but I think she gets it by now. Plus, I've sold a number of them for a profit, some of them for a considerable profit (not just my Rangers), so that brings up the second point: I treat my collection as an alternate liquid 401K. It's an investment. Rarely have I lost money when selling a gun.

I wear sleepers, a sort of body suit that helps me stay warm at night.  Actually, I wear them around the house when I don't have to go anywhere too.  Very comfortable and keeps me toasty when it is starting to become winter outside.  My house is well insulated and the heat pump is pretty cheap to use too but I try to keep my bills as low as I can so I can afford more Minis.  :)

Well, I have those too, these are different though, they are called sleepers.  I do like my long johns best but they are getting hard to find so I make due with the sleepers.

You are absolutely correct, MR_22!  I think of guns the same way.  I have never lost money on guns.  If only I could say the same about my financial investments!  :o

I don't like dogs.

They die....

I have had 7 dogs in my lifetime and every time one died, it ripped my heart out.

Maybe there is something wrong with me in that aspect because the dogs dying hurt more than the humans close to me dying.

Unc I especially agree with that last line , are we that strange or what . Our animals give us a special love humans have yet to show .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Bigbird48

I also agree Unc , like OV said dogs love you more then any human ever could. They comfort you in times of need, they make you laugh when your sad, their always there for you no matter what.

+1 Bigbird, OV, Bj, and Unc!

I agree 100%.  I guess we're all crazy ... and if so, I don't wanna be sane.
