My local gun shop called me and informed me that they had my Ranger 2. I just went and picked it up and they actually had one still on the shelf for sale !

That's interesting to know that dealers have versions to purchase in stock already. It would also have been interesting to see the serial # on the stock item.

Does anyone know of a distributor that has any Ranger 2s in stock?  Or any shops in the Southeast?  Heck any shop at all, I guess I could have it shipped.

It seems that with Grayelky who's an FFL getting the first Ranger and 38sp seeing one at his FFL that some of the first sent out may be in the dealer network. It seems if you want one it would be worth making some phone calls. it's likely that outside of the forum there aren't too many aware of the model, or thinking you could get one now, so there's a possibility to pick one up before all the magazines start writing about them and there's a rush on them.

The search is on!  I have looked around a little but so far no luck.

Will any of the magnum grips fit on the Ranger 2?

Warthog

Magnum Grips fit the Ranger II though it is unknown if the CVang grips will work on it.

No word yet for my Ranger IIs but I will wait patiently until it comes. 8)

I believe Grayelky said that the CVangs will need to be modified slightly to fit.

Pat

Here is his quote "It is just enough so the CVang grips will require a little Dremel tool work so they will fit. I emphasize very little."

Warthog

OK, cool, I have a pair ready for them and I have a Dremel or two as well. ;D

It was a low numbered BTN...

I think the latch on the Ranger II will hit the top of Cvang grips.

My Ranger 2 arrived yesterday afternoon and the grips just came in today.  I hope to do a little shooting today but the temp is 28 and starting to snow. I will see what my motivation level is as the day goes on! This is one of the "off the shelf " BTN Rangers.  A huge thanks again to 38 Sp. for helping a brother out! Merry Christmas to all!

One more pic, can't wait for the 3" Ranger 2!

RangerJim

That's absolutely beautiful, 1sog!  Congrats!   ;D
Can't wait for mine!   :)
So, making guns illegal will take them off the street?
Perfect!  We should probably make heroine and meth illegal, too!

RangerJim

Just saw the second pic ...  Gorgeous!  Love seeing Father and Son together!   ;D

Wow, now that's interesting! Right there is proof that the production models are going out concurrently.

I am kind of digging those Boot Grips. I am wondering what the Wooden Secret Service Grips would look like on the Ranger II? If anybody has a photo of such I for one would like to see it for a comparison between the two.

Yeah, they do look good. I'll probably look over the possibilities when my Rangers arrive and maybe run down to NAA to pick up some grips. Not sure what I want on them, yet, tho.

I decided to man up and honor those that have not had the pleasure of receiving their Ranger 2 yet. I fired a total of 25 rounds ( mixed Maxi-Mag and cheap Dyna ).  I fired 20 rounds at 15 yards and 5 at 25 yards on steel.  The Ranger functioned flawlessly, extraction was not drop free but that was not expected .  The POI was consistently 8"-12" above POA.  I did not have any trouble placing rounds on target when using the sights or shooting instinctively at 15 yards. I love the little Ranger and the boot grip seems to be the correct choice for me.  I will post several pics after this post. I feel certain that everyone is going to love this little jewel as much as I do.  Merry Christmas to all!

Conditions: Snow showers and 28 degrees.

There might be a rush on those grips  :)

Just use a sharp flat wood file and relieve an area ~5/16" at top angled to 1/4" of bottom at front-most part of the grip (underside, of course) and the provides relief for the latch.

I didn't use a Dremel as I wanted the area evenly flat with a straight edge, which the file did well.
