Uncle Fatso

I'm fixing a traditional southern dinner:

cabbage
black eyed peas
smoked pork chops
Mexican cornbread in cast iron skillet

Having a couple of old friends from the big city join my bride and me at the cabin. Hope the pipes don't freeze tonight.  It was 62 at 9:30 this morning. And 34 at 10:30, after the cold front arrived.  Will be 18 tonight, they say.  A hundred miles from Mexico, that's considered cold weather.

I'll be working but I'll find time to squeeze in some black eyed peas for good luck.

My Girlfriend insists on Ham, Coleslaw, Black-eyed Peas and Collard Greens. Had for a few years now (All but one-LOL).

Yeah, I remember the Blacked Peas from when I was little, Mom would make us eat some for luck.  Never seemed to work though. :(

I am eating some cereal and at midnight shooting some fireworks off but that is only because I love fireworks. :)

A big pot of chili for the family. Some nice fresh baked French bread to go with it.

My wife does the cooking, don't know what it will be today.  But I did make this cup of decafe coffee myself.

Pigs in a Blanket & sauerkraut . . . and it's 2 degrees here right now; somewhat brisk.

A friend gave me a few ribeye steaks last night as a belated Christmas present, so I braved the -20 temps and lit some applewood and grilled them.  I also baked some mini mincemeat pies.
