Largest handgun you've carried concealed?

I like tiny handguns, but I admit that my favorite handguns are larger ones. I've carried a Ruger P95 quite a bit, and that's a big handgun. Moreover, I carried a Kel-Tec P-11 with it as a backup! I used a hybrid kydex and leather holster for the P95 and a Galco USA IWB holster for the P-11.

I finally settled on a Glock 26 as the biggest gun that totally disappears under a t-shirt. I was delighted to find out it shoots like a larger pistol, and of course I can carry 15- or 17-round mags as spares.

The recent church shooting near me (thankfully thwarted by an armed citizen with an AR) has caused to consider carrying concealed -- at least when I travel out of town by car on business trips -- a handgun capable of greater accuracy and speed than I can manage with a Glock. The pistol below was what I finally decided on.

Here's the largest I've carried -- in a small, innocuous athletic bag. It's a 9mm AR with a 4.5-inch barrel. It's legally a pistol, with a pistol buffer tube and a Shockwave Blade arm brace. I built it at the beginning of the year after buying parts for several months. It's been 100% reliable with everything I've fed it.

I'm currently looking for a sling bag to carry it for travel. Although not in a holster, per se, it's more like purse carry. I want to carry it with a 10-round mag in place and a 32-round mags as spares (with 30 rounds loaded). As a wise man once said: "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

What about ya'll?

Regards,

I think I concealed my Coonan Classic .357 Mag once or twice but generally if I carry it it's not concealed. At one time I had a Ruger New Vaquero birdshead .45 Colt and I concealed it quite a few times.

I used to cc a 4" N frame S&W in a pancake holster on my strong side hip. Sometimes it was a 29 or 629 .44 Mag, sometimes a .45 Colt 25-5, sometimes a M28 Highway Patrolman .357 Mag.

Either my Ruger Redhawk, 4", 44 mag or S&W 29,4", 44 mag, in a pancake holster, they conceal very well as long as you have a long shirt or sweater. I don't carry them for everyday use, it's normally that I'm on my way into the mountains and am picking up supplies on the way, if I'm carrying a 44 mag in Walmart :).

Glock 22 and Beretta 96 during winter months using an insulated carry vest. They're too big to conceal for me during the rest of the year.

I' concealed a Ruger New Vaquero birdshead .45 Colt quite a bit when I had it. I carried it in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake holster. I had the inside out straps so it could be carried IWB or OWB.

That's the holster I have for my 44 mags, they are as the name suggests, simply rugged, but also do a wonderful job of holding the gun tight against you and because they come high up the sides of the gun the gun doesn't rub against or poke into your stomach or side.

Smith and Wesson Model 10 or a Glock 29 10mm.......no really large handguns for concealed carry. The largest handguns i have are a smith and wesson 69 44 magnum and a ruger Vaquero 45LC but i never concealed carry either.

I've carried a Dan Wesson 4" barreled .357 IWB when I was younger and ok with being slightly uncomfortable.
The largest I carry now is a tie between my Beretta Storm or Glock 30 which are both about the same size/weight when loaded. Almost always OWB although I do have a Kramer IWB sheepskin holster for the Glock 30 which isn't too bad comfort wise.
Most of the time I carry a 9mm LCR OWB with my Wasp as backup.

Gotta love the Big Bores
my Detonics 45 Combat Master disappears in its belly band holster or just tucked into the belt
its the same size as the little Bersa 380 and a little smaller then a lot of 9 mm single stacks but still has 7 rds 45 acp + P

I've carried a Colt Combat Commander and a 3 inch barreled Colt 45 with Birdshead Grips, but... I'm kind of partial to carrying my Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 Special.

Ok, after handling a Desert Eagle at a gun show a couple weeks ago, I've almost decided I need one. I'm considering getting one in .44-Magnum and/or .50AE. Does the gas operated system reduce recoil? I once shot a .44-Magnum revolver and was shocked by the recoil. Not sure how I feel about shooting a .50AE, but I still want one.

Should I get one? That's a dumb question, i know, because the answer to a question like that is always YES. :) I'm just looking for opinions of what you think of them.

Here's hickok45's presentation. Keep in mind (if you watch it) he is something like 6' 7", and has "large hands" as he frequently states.

It does have recoil, it is very large and heavy, has a heck of a muzzle blast, ammo isn't cheap, . . . But it is a .50 caliber semi auto hand gun.

They knew what they were doing developing this beautiful hand cannon . 50 AE is the way to go not no mere 44 plinker , ha .

Nice! That's the one I'm thinking of getting--the 10-incher in .50AE. I also want a 10-inch .44-Magnum conversion barrel.

One thing about them they are a literal handful , big butt grip and they do shoot smooth though , very easy to retarget after letting one loose , a little expensive for factory loads and that's all I shoot . I do use a bi-pod for any real targeting because its one heavy s.o.b. ..... Always wanted a true pick up the perk and spin him over type of load ((a real knock down) but the 45 Colt is a close second , almost .

I don't consider mine beautiful. Impressive, yes, beautiful, no.

Largest handgun I e used as EDC is a Ruger P95.  Carried it for 4 years, after acquiring a Glock 26 I sold the Ruger.  Regret it all the time.

The Glock has been 100%, no complaints with it at all. But the Ruger was just as good.

OK, I just bought a Desert Eagle .50AE that I found on the local classifieds last night. Dude, this thing is BIG (TWSS). Wow. I don't think I will carry this one, LOL. I didn't get the extended 10-inch barrel, but I'm going to see if I can find out separately.

Now to find some ammo that doesn't break the bank. That stuff is expensive. I'm also attaching a graphic comparing the .50AE to some other rounds. Dang. Do I dare shoot this thing???

OV-1D

Darvell ............... there are no safe engine blocks now . And yeah the price of ammo OH BOY .... but one load well placed can carry thru at least three perks . The longer barrel is a little softer on the arm and wrist , don't forget the bi-pod .

Is this the same man who was nervous about firing their 44 Special?  :)

Same exact one, all right! But remember, my .44-Special is a titanium snubby. The Desert Eagle weights about 4 pounds! The .44-Special snubby is probably under one pound (I'll have to look that up).

I'm looking for the longer .5AE barrel, but they aren't easy to find right now. I'll probably get the .44-Magnum barrel, too.

I'll listen out for screams from across the valley :)

LOL, it's about 8 or 9 miles across the lake from where I live to Provo. The .50AE might be able to lob over that, eh? LOL.

And if you didn't hear my screams from shooting my DoubleTap .45 across the lake, you probably won't hear it from the Desert Eagle. :)

Now I gotta figure out how to carry it. Hehe. I saw some shoulder rigs for it on eBay. With a jacket, I could probably do it.

I just ordered the 10-inch .50AE barrel for my Desert Eagle. I'll probably add a scope on the longer barrel, like yours, oh-vee. Dang, this gun could be a money pit...!

And, whoa! These rounds are BIG!
