Blued Bearcat With Adj. Sights And Stainless Accents.

I've had a stainless Bearcat with fixed sights for a few years and like it a lot but since the adj. sighted Bearcat came out, I've wanted one. I found a new blued Bearcat with adj. sights on another forum at a great price and went for it.

The stainless Bearcats back then came with an ugly, (to me), aluminum ejector rod housing with some sort of gray baked on finish. Belt Mountain came out with a limited run of custom made polished SS housings. I grabbed one and also got a Belt Mountain SS base pin and SS base pin latch to go with it.

The newer stainless Bearcats now come with a stainless steel housing that Ruger should have provided in the first place.

So now I had an extra SS base pin and base pin latch and the original aluminum gray ejector rod housing. I decided to try and get that gray coating off the original housing and after about 3 hours using extra fine wet/dry sandpaper and a Dremel, I finally succeeded. I then gave it a high polish using Flitz metal polish.

After installing the remaining SS parts on the blued Bearcat, I decided I wanted to go a little further. I called Ruger to order all the outer SS screws. How surprised I was and to Ruger's credit, they sent them to me for free!

Anyway, some will like it and some not but I think it looks great with the SS parts contrasting nicely with the blued finish giving it a unique look. Even if I decide later I don't like it, (which I doubt), the stainless pieces are easily replaced with the original blued parts. What do you folks think?

Gebe although those grips are fine a nice set of checkered gray-black wood would be awesome . Sweet looking piece , thanks for the picture .

Thanks Uncle Fatso and OV-1D for your comments.

Those are a pair of Eagle Grips Kirnite grips I scored on Ebay for less than half of what Eagle Grips are asking. Even though I have small hands, they are somewhat thicker than the stock Bearcat grips and fit my small hands much better than the stock wooden grips. I really like them but who knows? ;)

Thank you.

Yeah, I'm still undecided about the grips. Like I said, these feel very nice in hand as they are beefier and fill your hand better than the stock grips.

Catshooter

That's a very nice Ruger.  Kinda like the pinto finishes that S&W did years ago.

Very nice looking revolver Gebe, very nice.  Love the way it all looks together, the grips and stainless make for a great looking gun.

Thanks my friend. Wish I could take better pictures because it looks so much better than these shots.

Gebe a nice set of black ebony checkered would look superb but even those that are on there could use checkering . The shine takes away from the gun kinda . Sorry for being critical its about what you like not us , such a beautiful piece .

No, no problem OV. I appreciate all input and thanks for yours. Like I said, I'm still on the fence concerning the grips.

Also as I stated earlier, what I like about these grips and even though I have small but fattish hands, these are slightly fatter and more hand filling than the stock grips and very comfortable.

I think partial checkering to reduce some of the glare would benefit your gun. Regardless, you have a very fine looking revolver.

Nice looks. I have two of the stainless standard models. My ejector housings were also aluminum, guns made in 2012 before Ruger finally did right. Mine have stainless housings made by EWK Arms. I think he stopped making them after Ruger started their stainless. Bowen Arms still makes them for about $50. They have two styles, standard length, and one that is flush with the muzzle. I've also added Wolff springs for the mainspring and base pin latch. Lett grips in photos. Lett is now gone, got these on eBay from  Mr. Lett himself.

Before Ruger introduced the adjustable sight BC's, I bought/tried/sold close to a dozen various BC's & SBC's over the years because none of them would shoot to my POA with a the various kinds of LR I have available to me (maybe 10 different brands/types).

I stopped buying/selling BC's when I ran across this non-updated ca. 1969 Old Model that shot everything I have to my POA.

I liked it so much that I gave it a new pair of shoes (thanks to Sack Peterson)......... :D

Stag looks great with a dark gun. I never much liked it on stainless, though, not enough contrast.

My two (posted above) shoot the same. With standard 6 o'clock hold, windage is dead on, and they shoot about two inches low at 25 yards. I just use a 12 o'clock hold to fix it. I've never filed a sight, since that's only good for one distance, why bother? You'd still have to use different sight pictures for other distances anyway.

Very nice pietro!

I had a set of Sach's on my stainless Bearcat and switched them to my blued adj. sighted BC and put the Kirnite set on the stainless. What do you all think?
