No, it's just one of "our" many guns. She has a P32, a S&W 6906, an AK, and an AR 15, a Taurus .22 revolver, and a Norinco copy of a Browning .22 auto rifle as "her" guns. The rest are ours.
Ms. Debbie is the perfect wife. She likes guns, knives, etc.

Aha! She found it!
Beautiful work, Bill! That photo really is a celebration of fine American knife making along with fine American gun making!!!

Dinadan

Bigbird - I did not know that Opinel made knives that small. Mini indeed!

I have a weakness for brass tools. I like brass bolsters too, though I do not have many of them. Here is a nice old 12" pocket rule with a nice old Chicago Cutlery knife, both with brass mounts. Both have been used hard but still have  character. And my LR for scale, of course!

Warthog

Nice stuff all around.  Between knives and Minis I am generally broke, medical bills as well.  It is great though!

Thanks to all of you.
Ms. Debbie's mini necklace is always a hit at the knife shows.

Bill, I'll bet she's proud of it, too!  Where can I get a pearl Leverletto?

Here's one more shot of Mini Pearl and a mother of pearl sunfish knife. I really like the sunfish and elephant toe patterns! Hefty blades!

Say Mike whats the thickest that pearl comes in ? Was always looking to make a set of boot grips but the material was a little on the narrow side to make a real great set that look like standard boots . Also never thought about any salt content in the mother of pearl if any to add to corrosion of metal especially if dampness gets to it ..

OV-1D - I do not think that you need to worry about mother of pearl causing your Mini to corrode. There are many pocket knives out there with MOP handles that are decades, even over a hundred years old. Mostly the MOP touches brass liners, but if enough salt were leaching out to corrode anything, I do not think that the MOP would still be intact. Maybe someone actually has facts.

PaducahMichael - that is a fine looking sunfish! Here is a similar knife, not as broad in the beam as a sunfish. In spite of the tang stamp this one is made in Germany. It seems to me that a lot, maybe most, of the nicer MOP knives are made in Germany.

PaducahMichael

Wow, Dinadan - that is a beautiful MOP knife. Some of the finest pearl I've seen. Very nice!

OV, I buy pearl and Sambar Stag from Culpepper Knives. https://www.knifehandles.com/culpepper-and-company

Sizes in stock vary but I'm pretty sure it would be hard to find pearl for boot grips - it's all very thin - like 1/16, 3/32 and sometimes 1/8".

cfsharry

Not positive but I believe MOP is the inner surface of fresh water mollusk shells.

ikoiko

Marine and freshwater from what I've read.

bill_deshivs

Mother of pearl is basically calcium carbonate. It does not contain salt, and is an inert material.

PaducahMicael- I'm the only place you can get a pearl Leverletto.

Warthog

Anither nice looker.  Mother of Pearl is nice looking stuff and makes a nice looking knife.  Might need to talk to Bill about one of those eventually too but now I would like one with Abalone as it is something I never have had before.  I have stuff in MOP around, not many knives but I have MOP stuff.

Here is my PUG with a little S&W Liner lock, the blade type is a big favorite of mine.  Wharnies, sheepsfoot etc are something I love.

Those who bemoan the loss of American pocket knives should check out Bear Cutlery. They are made right here in Alabama, and they make some carbon steel blades too. http://bearandsoncutlery.com/

Lousy picture but here's two mini minis. Bear Cutlery mini abalone and .22 short mini with Eagle Grips, (got them 25 years ago for cheap), sambar stag.

I really like MOP but I love abalone.

I agree. Here's another, (lousy :)), closer shot of the Bear mini to show the brilliant colors of the abalone and a stock photo.

Ain't lousy.
Good pictures,
Thank You.

Very nice stuff folks, I look forward to my Abalone Leverlock.  Gebe, your stuff is magnificent.  I have a liner lock from Bear but nothing like those you have, very very nice.  I hope in time to get a few more up of the knives I have, though not many of them are rare or as nice as those shown already.  I will keep trying though and maybe one day I will have some nice, hand down type knives and guns to hand down to my nephews.

I really like the abalone! That's some colorful stuff. Very nice pocket knife, too!

Nice, Warty. I do not often see a photo of a Pug with boot grips - cool.

WECSOG - I really lke that Super Companion and Case Bulldog photo. Some real Americana there. That Bulldog looks as if it has been sharpened and used, whic is quite unusual for one of those, I think. You have a point about Bear Cutlery. I have a couple of their knives from a while back but I need to look over what they are making these days.

Gebe - That is a fine photo with the Short and the Bear knife. I like the grips on that Short, too. What are the two round abalone items? I can certainly see why folks like abalone; I do not have any abalone knives or other items.

Thanks! Yeah, the Bulldog had already been used quite a bit when my Dad got it back in the '70s. Now it's just a keepsake. It's one of my all-time favorite folders, but I wouldn't want to risk actually carrying it. I have other knives for that.

Basslessaccusations

I'm new to the forum but I wanted to post a photo of my 2 minis, a new Black Widow and an older 22lr, with my Bill DeShivs Leverletto. I did the vine firework as well as made a set of Kirinite grips for it. The original Dark horn grip had cracked so I thought it would be a fun project. Excellent little knife and 2 excellent little backup guns.

Here is another photo.

Thank you unc, Warty, Michael and Dinadan. I just wish I could take better pictures but looks like you folks got the picture. :)

I have a couple other abalone knives somewhere around here. I'll see if I can dig them out.

Dinadan, those are some ovals of abalone sheeting made from actual abalone. I pick them up here and there for decorations on things just because I'm addicted to the stuff! You can even carve them to make different shapes.Too bad I'm not talented as they would make great grips for our minis. They come in different thicknesses and the backing is MOP which makes them even neater.

More pics of abalone sheeting.

gebe

#99
This is a cross carved from the sheets. Also a baby abalone shell highly polished and made into a pendant with sterling silver border. Both are backed by real MOP.

gebe

Sorry for the sidetrack and last abalone post, I promise!

My watch even has an abalone dial.  ::)

Beautiful Gebe, I love the Abalone.
