So I finally found some Hornday Critical Defense 22mag.  I pretty much look for it every time I go to Cabela's or FleetFarm, it's where I buy most of my ammo, and have not see it since I can't remember.   Anyways FleetFarm had plenty so I bought a couple of boxes.  Put some boot grips on my Sidewinder....now I need a trip to the range...

Care to share any experiences or opinions of Hornday Critical Defense??

I prefer it over CCI. I carry it in all my firearms of alll calibers.

I carry Hornady Critical Defense (or Critical Duty for longer barrels) in my .380, 9mm, and .40 cal handguns.  But when researching ammo for the shorter barrel NAAs, the consensus seemed to be that the Speer Gold Dots Short barrel tended to open up more reliably than the Hornady ammo.  I also read that a longer barrel really makes the Hornady Critical Defense 22 mag perform better where the longer barrel had little effect with the Speer Gold Dots.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

I won't carry a laser device... unless it has stun, kill, and disintegrate settings.

When you talk barrel length how short or long is the barrel?  I ask because I have the 2.5 barreled Sidewinder.  Do you think that would make a difference.  Really though I'll get to the range shoot it at 5 yards and see what it does.    Keep my eyes out for some Speer ammo too.   I have some Speer in other calibers but have never used alot of it.

Noticed I spelled Hornady wrong in title and thread....me and my dyslexia...

As always, take anything you read (including my posts) on the Internet with a grain of salt.  The guy had tested Hornady Critical Defense and Speer Gold Dots Short-Barrel with a NAA 22 mag and then later retested through a 6-inch barrelled revolver.  I'm not sure of the pistol model.

You're going to get a better ballistics out of the 2.5 inch barrel than a 1 to 1 5/8ths NAAs.  You can sort of interpolate the numbers from the data at :

Yerp that is how I use them, Hornady In thCA 4" barrel, Goldots in the BW....and as a backup and for extended practice, HP+vs...

From my post from a few days ago...

Hornday Criticle Defense @ 5 yards

All but 1 round key-holed -- which would probably hurt like h*ck and open up the wound channel, but at a loss of penetration and probably accuracy.  (These were shot at 5 yards.)

You'll have to try them to see how your MIni likes them, or not.
