That was my very first gun Warty. Single shot 22 short long and lr. The front sight was kinda bent to the left but once I figured that out I got a little more accurate.

Warthog

Just like ME except mine was a Mossberg, very cool Joe!

Just like us old timers, your Ithaca still could perform!  Ah . . .  nice AR, too.  ;D

I built a couple of these tables that fold up for use on the range.  I primarily use them at my own range, but a local public range I have used has no such tables, just std. dirt mound backstops, with no place to load or keep your toys out of the mud.

Great idea!! Way better than what I do...

Warthog

I bought a nice folding table to use at the range, mine is outdoor only.  It has been great too.  I can use it as a rest for longer distances, range goes to 500 yards, and also just to keep my firearms out of the dirt. 8)

So Joe, how did the Ithaca do for you?  My Old Mossberg runs like a top still.

It fired fine. My front sight has gotten bent over the years. I was shooting to the right of the bullseye at 25 yards. I tried to make a minor adjustment in the field but didn't want to overdo it and snap it off (fixed sight) I'll take another look at it later and see if I can get her back in order.

Warthog

Cool beans Joe, it does look like a nice firearm, just get the sights worked out and it will be as good as the day you got it.

Hows the difference in the trigger pulls , never had a disappointing shoot with my Rugers (pistols or rifles) , heck with my 10/22 I can consistently shoot tack heads holding up the target at 50 feet . Rugers shoot just as well as Smiths if not a little better out of the box , both being fine shooters .

ov trigger is real good with the browing s@w is a hair trigger i did 15 years ago i believe the difference is scopes when i had the s@w scope on browing i thought the guns where close the s@w scope is 2.5 moa @ the browing 5.0  to tell the difference is that 1inch dot in the middle with the 2.5 moa you can see the color all around with the 5.0 you cover it i dont aim a red dot like a rifle when dot on target fire  i was going to ask all the guys i have 7 red dots there 5 years old i was going to ask if anyone tried the new 2x power hand gun red dots mine are all 1x

hey folks - having a beautiful, sunny 75F day down here in the near Tropics - after a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs w/ketchup i toodled over to a nearby range and gave a new wheelgun a shakedown cruise with some 158 grain GECO goodness... here are the first five rounds out of the box at 15 feet (i first made sure to ensure the set screw on the rear Novak sight was tight and did a little polish of the brass bead; i'll tighten down the set screw using some VC-3 after cleaning)... i'm gonna guess i don't need to adjust the sights? i also did some paper shredding using .38spl at 21 and 30 feet - quite happy with the way rounds seem to slingshot out of the 'Tank':

Warthog

GREAT LINUX!

Still too cold here plus it is supposed to rain and snow and likely freezing rain as the day goes one.  Have fun in FL, it isn't for me.  I like the snow and weather here since seasons are something I like. ;)

Yep, no need to adjust the sights.

hey folks - beautiful 82F sunny day here in the Near Tropics. After a teeth scraping at the vet, i was off to the range to see if i could loosen some 50-year-old fillings. I think the .38 Special is kinda interesting. I understand it was first introduced in 1898 in response to the inadequacy of the .38 Long Colt against Filipino Muslim warrior shields in the Philippine War, and that the last major change was by the FBI in 1972 with the introduction of .38 Special +P. Not bad for a self-defense round that today seems as good as it was more than 100 years ago?

That's some fancy target shooting Linux . Whats the story for 357 's ?

tks, but as we all know i'm just a plinker and crusty old f**t and only do 5, 7, and 10 yard practice with my pocket mice and subbies... the surprise for me today was that there was keyholing at 5 yards, but at 7 yards, same gun, same ammo no keyholing! peculiar?

as far as the .357, from what i gathered on Wikipedia the .357 magnum was first introduced in 1934, and was developed by Smith & Wesson and the NRA, with the purpose of penetrating car doors and early ballistic vests used by bootleggers and gangsters.

i like the .357 out of the Ruger SP101, which is kinda funny as i once had a S&W 28 and sold it because it was not fun and painful to shoot... the Ruger on the other hand is very comfortable

i had so much fun with the .38s that i went back to the veteran-owned reman business i frequent and bought another 500 rounds - good stuff - quite consistent for me

Saw a guy was arrested for the planning of attacks on Liberals. Yeah, he was a nutcase, and needed to be arrested for the threats, but the media was focused on his guns and ammo. They kept saying and showing that he had 15 guns (some shown were BA rifles, and a couple of handguns) and the fact he had over 1000 rounds of ammo...If that is what makes him nuts, I think we are all in trouble...I saw it reported on CBS news.

He does (did) have some beautiful pieces . Your right Al if they came for me they would think I'm from some muslim terrorist country looking for lots of trouble . They showed a picture of his arsenal but I couldn't transfer it but its there to see .
Tried again here it is , more behind his picture .

Rogue that ain't you is it  ? Probably not theres not enough I figure , ha .

I know it isn't MR_22 guns are too conventual looking , ha ,ha .

No OV not me LOL. If that is all this man has it would not even be close to enough to qualify from just one of the vaults. In addition to this, 1000 rounds of ammo is not even enough for me to take to a training class, let alone keep on hand for shooting/training.  Amateur by my recollection.  8)

If that stash qualifies him as a terrorist then I would have to qualify as something akin to an entire Caliphate.  :P

Ha ,Ha ,Ha ,Ha ,Ha , I would bet my whole bundle on you Rogue no doubt . The guy is strictly amateur for sure , HECK HE GOT CAUGHT FOR ONE . Ha ,Ha . ;)

One of my former co-workers came in one morning, all upset, had heard on the news that a local man had been arrested, he had three guns, and 150 rounds of ammunition.   He wanted to know why any one needed that much ammo.   I reminded him that he had said that as a youngster he had hunted with his father and brother, and knew a little about guns, and that 150 rounds od ammo meant that the man had two boxes of shotgun shells, and two boxes of .22, and his response was, "That's not that much."   He was hyped up due the media's wording, and tone used.

Warthog

The media and the way people see others and the way our government compiles list of people who they feel should be watched is a really big joke.  IDK not do I ever think I could even think the  way they do enough to feel like they do.

There was a time a person who owned some firearms and who had some ammo and wrote to the government to tell them how they felt on subjects that were up for vote USED to be considered a PATRIOT
Schools used to teach children about the Constitution and their Rights.  Now, it is all something that no one is taught nor do they feel a person is a Patriot unless their car is covered in little US Flags and ribbons of various colors and a bunch of bumper stickers. :'(

Now it seems that folks just want a lot of "Reality" TV, because they no longer live in a reality that resembles any that I do.  Our country is circling the drain.  IDK exactly when Jesus will return but it does seem like it will be soon.  OOPS!, wrong forum, forgive me please.

I just find it "convenient" that as the dems push for new gun legislation they bust a guy looking to take out said leaders. I find myself wanting to call bs to the whole thing. I really don't believe much from the msm anymore.

linux_author

it will be interesting to see if he really violated any laws - i do know there are restrictions on government computer use, but as anyone who has worked in the federal government in Washington DC knows, the civil servants there watch porn, shop online, and play on social media all day long at their office desks - DC is a vast welfare state for the 'locals'

hey folks - having a great time on the sunny and warm Gulf of Mexico... went directly to the range after picking up a new revolver - the Charter Arms .380ACP Pitbull - no moon clips! i ran 50 rounds of reman FMJ and 40 rounds of S&B FMJ with no real problems... the reman required one or two shells to be urged out with a small wood dowel (not really stuck, just ended up underneath the extractor; all factory rounds dumped out w/no probs)...

i really, really tried to punch out the bullseye, but my Pitbull missed a few chomps! target was at my normal 21 feet, single and double action... had to hold on top of the bull and a little to the right, but that's my grip and pull (i'm really trying hard to work on shooting better):

hope everybody has a great weekend!
