As some know, I'm crazy about abalone. When I saw Bill DeShivs's wonderful abalone grips in another thread, I knew I had to have a set. I contacted Bill and asked if he would make a set for my .22 short mini. He agreed. They weren't exactly cheap but all thing's nicely handmade aren't.

When I received them, there were fitting issues but like we discussed in another thread, there are different manufacturing tolerances in the minis and not all of them are exactly the same especially in the older models and new. Bill's short mini he used as a model for the grips was from the 1970's and mine was purchased in 1993.

Anyway, with some time and a Dremel and a small file, I got them to fit.

Classy grips for a classy mini!

P.S. I think my pictures are correctly sized but for some reason the forum's only allowing me to post one picture at a time so this will be multiple posts.

Right closeup.

Wow! I can't believe the difference in tolerances!
Here is a picture of the same grip on my gun.
Glad NAA sent me some recent grip frames to use!

gebe

Yeah Bill, it's amazing how different yours from the '70's and mine from the '90's are. Wasn't any fault of yours.

bill_deshivs

Thank you for being so understanding.
What puzzles me, is that I have made many pairs of grips-all fitted to this, or the next SN, gun.
To my knowledge, yours is the only one with a fitment problem.

Wow - those are some BBQ grips!  Very nicely done.

I'm sure the grips would have been even more filling to my frame if Bill had known his '70's mini short had different dimensions than my '90's short but they're fine the way they are.

Now my trio is complete!

You're too kind gents. Thanks for the thanks.

Wish I had stag grips but they just don't fit into my budget.  They look great.  I may eventually get an Abalone Grips for my little 22 short though...

Canoeal

I replaced the BW grips with the ones in my budget; self made of wood. I can make most things out of wood...

Wood is still nice Canoeal! Glad you have the talent to make your own.

Warty, I was lucky enough to get a super deal on both sets of sambar stag. I got the L.R. set from Eagle Grips way back when sambar was plentiful and cheap and the Spresser magnum set from a member here at a greatly discounted price. Boy, Charles Spresser makes outstanding grips.
