1 1/8 pistol Accuracy and a question

Took my new pistol out again today and put a couple boxes of ammo through it.  I was shocked at how accurate it was at 60 ft!  No group to speak of but I did hit the target.  I was expecting a complete miss.  Now my question.  The pin came loose multiple times while shooting.   When it does, it won't fire till you push it back in.  Is this common?  I'll clean it up and test it out again in a few weeks.

Call NAA. they will either send you a new pin, or send a call tag, for you to ship it back, so they can go over it. Good deal.

I just recently purchased a 1 1/8 magnum mini revolver, I also purchased a .22 lR extra cylinder. It has been sent back to factory twice! For misfiring, and keyholing. One of the factory reps. himself told me that they cannot make a mini revolver that will not keyhole sometimes!!! I'm here to tell you, what good is it if it keyholes? A little .22 bullet needs to spin truly to penetrate as deeply as it can. Do not listen to the hog wash that if the bullet hits sideways it will do more damage. That might be true if we were talking about a mini 9 mm but, not a .22 round, either .22 magnum or lr. Not to mention trying to hit anything with it. I am willing to trade off accuracy with this gun but, not hitting the target sideways! Really people, you need to think about this! I have a snub nose .22 revolvers in magnum and in .22 LR Their barrel lengths or 2 Inch and 2.5 inch barrels. If they have to have at least a 2 inch barrel to stabilize bullet they need not making a mini shorter than that length. Or at least, put a warning and notice that the other shorter models will key hole half of time . That way, the buyer has no surprises and knows what he is getting. For me this is a paper weight! Or always shoot snake shot!

Best ammo for me is 36 grain cci minmag lr

I have 1 5/8 and never experience keyholding.

It is nice to read that your Mini is shockingly accurate. I do not see that a lot! Regarding the pin, like Canoeal said, NAA should make it right. But the problem you are having is one of the reasons that the Pug and Black Widow are so popular with the improved pin. I have a Magnum Mini and the pin has come loose when I was shooting mags. Never had a problem with LR.

Putting a keyholing warning label on the very short barreled Minis is not a bad idea. Based on my experience with several Minis and several kinds of ammo,  if you shoot very much there will be some keyholing with some ammo, possibly with all ammo. It is a trade off we live with. I do think that anyone who does any research at all before buying a gun will be aware of the possibility of keyholing with a 1 1/8" barrel.

had keyholes with my mini mag but not with my Sidewinder (same barrel lengths) - go figure...

.22S was a lot of fun to shoot, btw

The standard rate of twist for a .22LR barrel is 1 in 16. So, with a 1 1/8" barrel, the bullet turns a tiny fraction over 1/16th of a turn before it's out the barrel. You can't expect that to stabilize the bullet very much at all.....

In my experience, very short barrel .22's will keyhole sometimes.  I also once had a Beretta M21A 22LR that was amazingly, unbelievably accurate, especially and surprisingly so with it's 1" barrel.  I won bets with that little pistol; I'd stick an empty 12ga shell on a branch and win bets that I could shoot it off the branch with the tiny Beretta.  But when shot against paper targets, it would reveal some keyholing.  It hit exactly where I was aiming, but it sometimes hit sideways.
