Like many of you I have been so impressed by the added quality, fit and finish of the machined Break-Tops. I understand that using more case parts are part of making the gun more affordable, which they need to do but to be able to have the machined version is a real treat.  I am fairly new to NAA, have they ever done this before.  Offered what really is a machined proto-type to the public for sale.  When the Earl came out it had cast production parts to begin with.  If I look at where this gun ranks? in my collection, I would have to say that it sits right next to my 1942 Colt Woodsman Sport for quality, execution and just coolness.  That is saying something.

I thought all stainless steel was machined, right of wrong??

These are...............

But the standard line is investment cast frames I am told.  Not that there is anything wrong with investment cast.  After all, Ruger has been using it since the beginning...............  and they are just the largest gun manufacturer in USA.......

I am assume the cast frames are close to shape needed with minimal machining.  The BT was machined from billet steel? But what do I know.

Thanks Barky, I had no idea.  stupid me thought you had to machine all true stainless steel from solid blocks.

From the annoucement from Sandy  "With the exception of the internal components, which are common with our existent minirevolvers, the entire piece of these first editions will be machined from barstock."

Investment cast parts can be used with little to no machining at all..........  Labor is the big cost these days, and a process that gives you a finished part is a plus.

The inner parts are MIM.  (some of them anyway) as are hammers and triggers and many inside parts of S&W guns.  (MIM= Metallic Injection Molding)

Trust Officer here, yes quite a ride in banking in the last couple of year.  Saw thinks I thought I would never see happen.  Reach the important date of 59.5 in November so my time for playing with guns can only get better.
