Talldog

Hello everyone. I'm a Glock guy, but I've been interested in NAAs for quite a while. I've always felt that .22WMR has a place in SD and I had a Ruger LCR in that caliber, but after I picked up a G42 for deep concealment a while back, the LCR no longer had a purpose and turned into a safe queen. I figured this would be a good opportunity to trade it in for something I've wanted for a while and that I can get some use out of. I bought the BW conversion model today, and I'll use the lr cylinder for cheap range practice and the WMR for those times when even the 42 is too big or too heavy or whatever. Anyway, looking forward to getting some good information from the folks on this forum.

Welcome talldog.

Good choice on the Black Widow. Spent the day giving mine some love today. Share some pics and your thoughts with us and you'll fit right in.

Hello Talldog. During his teen years, my son was a nationally ranked competitor in USPSA and Steel Challenge, shooting GLOCKs. He has a Black Widow that is probably his favorite deep concealment piece. He also has a Kel-Tec 3AT for deep concealment, but he can run a plate rack pretty quickly with his BW - well 5 of the six plates, anyway ;D

Welcome to the forum, Talldog. The Balck Widow is a great choice for your first NAA. Like Joe said, share some photos when get a chance!

TallDog,

Welcome to the forum!!

You made a great choice for your first of many minis.  Trust me on this, there will be more.

Good idea to get the spare 22lr cylinder for economical practice.

Good first choice. It took me three tries before I figured it out and got my BW, which is pretty much the only one I carry.

Talldog,
Welcome from the AZ Territory!  I have a G43 and a Black Widow. Neither was my first gun but I've settled on these as Primary and secondary carry items.

I bought a Magnum 1 5/8" first and then gave it to my son in law after I got my Black Widow. He carries it every day now.

Photos are always appreciated.  Yes they all may look similar but it is YOURS we want to see!

I'm having trouble figuring out this forum software, and since my posts won't appear until approved by a moderator, I have no idea whether I'm actually attaching a crappy picture of my cleaned and oiled BW sitting on the kitchen counter, but I hope so.

Anyway, I hope to be getting it to the range tomorrow.

The Dawg House

Good little novelty gun. Fun to shoot.

TallDog,
Let us know how that new piece does on the range.

Looks like you have it nice and clean and ready to go.

Remember,it is designed as a SHORT RANGE GUN.  My practice sessions are basically 8-10 feet.

Wellcome to the Forum!

Start replying to posts to get through the first 15 then your off probation and it is much easier!

Great choice for your 1st NAA!  There will be more..... it's a disease! lol!

Lots of great info here on these guns.  Ask questions and definitely post a quick Range Report after shooting (nothing formal, just a photo of a target with some holes in it!) and maybe what ammo you used.

Welcome again!

I am also a Glock, and S&W 5906, fan. At this time I have a couple of B/W convertibles not counting the two I gave my son and grandson.  I "think" I have owned a couple more.  For EDC and concealment I know of no better and I always carry one.  Come to think of it, My son has my Glock so guess if ISIS or the Martians try to take over, out will come the 5906.   Whatever, you made a good choice.

Talldog

So I got to the range today, and considering that I've never shot anything close to this small, I was pleased with the results. My wife also shot a cylinder of each caliber, and now she wants one.

Anyway, here are some pics in multiple posts. I hope they come out in the correct order.

Pic 1 is the BW sitting in the range bay with today's ammunition; 36gr CCI Mini Mags, 40gr CCI Maxi Mags, and Hornady Critical Defense.

Pic 2 is my first cylinder of Maxi Mags at 15 feet. There are only 4 holes in the target because I just wasn't prepared for my first live trigger pull with this gun. The hole ended up in pic 4. The other 4 were OK.

Pic 3 is 40 rounds of Maxi Mags at 25 feet.

Pic 4 is 20 rounds of Critical Defense at 15 feet. An inch or two below the target, you can see the stray round from my first cylinder.

Pic 5 is 45 rounds of Mini Mags at 25 feet.

I was carrying my G26 today and brought along 100 rounds of Speer Lawman figuring I'd want to shoot it, but I was having so much fun with the BW that the Glock never came out. Hopefully as I get some experience with it, I'll tighten up, but definitely a good time today.

Welcome to the Forum Talldog!  Good choice there with the BW.  It's about a perfect choice for pocket carry as far as I'm concerned.  The grips are slim enough to conceal, but just big enough to get a decent handhold.  That 2" bbl. is a good compromise with the right ammo as well.  Keep them posts coming.

Congratulations!  The Black Widow is a magnificent concealment option.
It also works well as a kit gun or hiking companion.

Great pickup for a first mini! Still my favorite as far as accuracy and shootability!
