As a contracted exhibitor for this second annual event, scheduled to be held this weekend in Richmond VA, I was very disappointed to learn that it was being cancelled in anticipation of approaching storm Florence.  As concealed carry/personal protection is the raison d'etre for the NAA product line, this was expected to be a particularly rich target audience and I was very much looking forward to the opportunity to personally visit with customers and friends, old and new.

Notwithstanding, as a most-of-the-time-resident of SW Florida reflecting on the one year anniversary of Irma, I am reminded of the potentially life-threatening devastation that typically accompanies major storms such as these and I applaud the prescience of the NRA to act proactively.  Regardless of the severity of the storm - or possible lack of - the disruption to travel, both on land as well as by air, will most certainly be overwhelming and all who can avoid putting themselves in harms way, even if only peripherally, are well advised to do so.

In the meantime, we extend our thoughts and prayers to those who are forced to suffer through this event and hope that the losses of life and property are fractional of what has been forecasted.

TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Hard to believe it only been a year. I live inn the nature coast area and after all the clean up there are still some trees down.

yep - spent a number of days without power after Irma - not fun... reminded me of the week without power following Charlie, and Frances, and Ivan, and Jeanne in '04

during hurricane season we keep water and food on hand, the vehicles topped off, ready-to-go bags packed (with important documents, etc.), batteries, a few small solar panels w/rechargeables, and a stock of marine alcohol stoves and alcohol fuel for use (can use inside without worry of fumes)

I too suffered thru Irma. Heck I just got my roof replaced only a month ago from the storm damamge. But now that I'm water tight I have started on the inside repairs that need to be addressed.

Hoping for the best to those on the eastern shore during Florence. "Things" can be replaced. People cannot be.

If you have time enough left to replace them.

Well, if you don't have time enough to replace them, you don't need them anyway.. 8)

I feel that you are telling me/us something and it makes me sad to think that. I hope you are having a cup of coffee because I am and that means we are having one together unc. Hope you have a good day.

I'm a hundred odd miles west of Richmond. Besides the immediate coast area, Virginia is expecting very little harm from Florence. A couple of days of heavier than usual rain, and extra windy. Nothing worse than a nuisance for most. I think the NRA erred on the side of caution, but prematurely. One factor may have been the motels/hotels filling up with evacuees?

We need more exposure of common sense carry. Too much of the "bigger is better" crowd laughing at our "toys", without a clue that they don't know what they're talking about.

Lately, have not been too happy with the NRA.They made a lot of promises at election time, and promoted a lot of candidates and looked for a lot of donations. Since the election, promised legislation has all but evaporated, and not hearing any news on anything else... Not sure why I should have gone. Their carry insurance is you pay, we reimburse after the fact...that means I am still on the hook to pay. Doesn't do me any good. SO WHY???

I don't normally defend the NRA, but as for election promises, I'm not sure what you were promised, but here in Illinois, they have put in time and money this year against Madigan and the Chicago boys, even though they couldn't get enough votes to keep  the Dems from passing bills with veto proof majorities.

I know people who dropped membership in the NRA because to them it seemed that every piece of mail they got was a request for funds for some legislative emergency, and their take was that there just weren't that many emergencies.   Course these are also people that say that the anti-gunners "don't want my duck gun, it's just those black rifles" that they want to ban.

Laughing at my little "toys" are nothing.
I was a fat, ugly kid that wore glasses. I grew up being laughed at. Don't sweat what others think. Worry only about you and yours.

Ya Joe, I am here.
Looks like for a long time. I just had my physical. Only problem is that I am low on vitamin B.

I can go find the links , but among them was Concealed carry reciprocity. According to the NRA it was passed in the House and sent to the Senate... It needed a Republican President to get done. We delivered Trump. Being a businessman that takes $20-30,000 of inventory to shows, in 4 states, three of which have no current reciprocity with PA, CCW reciprocity matters to me. Where is it? And several on the local level, including stopping some very anti-2A laws in the PA House... Not a word since the 2016 election...

I dropped the nra a long time ago. Told them I didn't want magazines, patches, hats, stickers. Just lobby my rights. Junk I didn't want kept coming despite reassurances it wouldn't. My money stopped going. Didn't represent me.
