Wow!  Really nice Pietro.  Did you refinish it, or find it in that shape?

Thanks, Gang !

AFAIK, it's never been refinished - it's in the same condition as when I first saw it, 44 years ago (1974).

It has all matching numbers (receiver, buttstock, etc, etc), and is in about 98% original condition - it has an "A" SN prefix, which makes it born in about 1927. (no factory SN records)

It loads the opposite way that most magazine tubes are loaded, via holding the latch on the forward end of the outer magazine tube while drawing the tube forward, even with the muzzle - in that position, the rear end of the outer tube exposes a loading port in the stationary inner magazine tube (to the rear of the forend).

Given that it was made prior to the advent of hi-speed RF ammo, I have only ever shot standard velocity (SV) ammunition through it.(.22S & LR only - I haven't seen .22 Longs F/S in over 30 years_

Other than to check it's zero, I've never really put it on paper - but I've never missed a Squill with it yet (up to a little over 50 yds - about as far as I can see where I hunt Squills).

What attracted me to it in the first place, was the crescent BP and the S-shaped PG bottom - I thought it looked too classy to pass up, plus, I like hammerless .22's.

Pietro, that is a nice gun!  My first firearm ever was a Mossberg (402) Palomino Lever action 22s-22L-22LR, according the the receiver.

Those are nice guns Pietro and I am sure you will love plinking with it as much as I have with mine.  I kept mine in good shape, cleaned and oiled it and the stock as needed.  That's it there below. 8)

Warty,

You have to buy several boxes for the shipping to be cost effective, but they have a good price per box ($6.99 + shipping) :

https://www.outdoorlimited.com/cci-rimfire-ammunition/cci-22-long-cb-cci0038-29-gr-lrn-100-rounds/

10 Boxes came out to $87.14 with shipping.  20 boxes was $157.34 shipped.  It was only 30 cents more ($17.54) in shipping to double the order.

If you're willing to buy a case, this is the best price I've found at $384.45 with free shipping:

Thank You Bill, I suppose it will wait until I can afford it,or not.  Guess I shall see when I can afford it if there is any for me to buy. ???

Really nice piece. Thanks for sharing it. I'd love to have one of those old pump action .22's but every one I've ever seen has been out of my price range at the time. Yours is beautiful.

billmeek

Warty,

Several places have it in stock.  For example Brownells has them at a higher price ($8.99), but with lower flat-rate shipping ($9.95) if you only want a few boxes:

https://www.brownells.com/ammunition/rimfire-ammo/22-cb-long-29gr-lead-round-nose-100-box-sku105200109-85021-91241.aspx

I'd check around locally.  You might find it in stock or one of the local stores might order you a couple for a lower price.
