"have you ever fired any of those? is the top one a 32 long? a gun like that with a shorter barrel in modern metalurgy would be what im waiting for"

Heyjoe, the top two the Robin Hood and the Hopkins and Allen Dictator are 32 rimfire. The S&W is 32 centerfire, that was a new cartridge when that model was introduced.

I haven't fired any of them, I don't think 32 rimfire is even available, the Robin Hood would need some work on the hand and the Dictator's cylinder pin thread would need some attention before they could be fired. The S&W needs a spring for the cylinder latch but otherwise is the closest to being useable and has the best bore, I think you can get the ammo.

Bakelite, or polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride, is an early plastic. It is a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin. One of the first plastics made from synthetic components, Bakelite was used for its electrically nonconductive and heat-resistant properties in radio and telephone casings and electrical insulators, and also in such diverse products as kitchenware, jewellery, pipe stems, and children's toys. In 1993 Bakelite was designated a National Historical Chemical Landmark in recognition of its significance as the world's first synthetic plastic.

That's the sort of plastic I was talking about.

The wasp grips have replaced the ones you see on line that are checkered. Too bad the checker rubber grips look more vintage the Wasp grips have a pebble surface more modern to me.

   Steve

I agree. I would prefer the checkered ones, but I don't have them available.

I do have some elephant ivory, and I may try and make some for my BT and my LR Mini.

"I haven't fired any of them, I don't think 32 rimfire is even available,"

Redhawk4, I was curious so I looked up 32 rimfire at "old western scrounger" and found they have a limited quantity....at $4 per round....(ouch). I haven't purchased anything from this maker/supplier but more than a couple people have recommended them for hard-to-find ammo.

redhawk4

Thanks Silvershooter,  $4 a round = unavailble to me LOL

I guess if I get them fixed I'd give it a go if they sell them seperately

I think I'm going to retire these to a display case I have that my Grandfather made, if I can make a mount to fit the inside they'll look cool just hanging on the wall - part of me wants to fix them and try firing them part of me says leave them be.

And he comes up with a picture of the BT with black pearl grips for further comparison..lol. Forgot I had these. Personally...I don't like how these are shaped which is why they were forgotten. They fall short of matching the profile of the back strap by a long shot, but you get the general idea.

silvershooter

that's a "no-go" zippo....looks like some kind of funky nailpolish job my wife would come home with....; thanks for sharing though.

zippovarga

Yep.....I don't care for them either.

45flint

Zippo,  were the black pearl grips pictured above the ones NAA is now offer for sale in this months special?

   Steve

chopprs

OOH, they don't look like they fit very well. Are they direct from NAA?

cedarview kid

I have a few grips that fit like that, but I don't have any faux-pearl. Since NAA's are finished by hand, sometimes the contour of the frame seems to be slightly different for different pieces; that's my experience, anyway.

The best fit for a grip is always the one that comes installed from the factory.

chopprs

Man, If someone sent me grips that fit like that I woul have to send them back!

zippovarga

Sorry for the delay in answering. And yes...NAA grips.

flyinbiker2001

vintagegungrips.com can cast grips Im going to buy a set of repro wwII nazi grips for my PPK I think they will cast most anything

chopprs

Those are pretty kewl, I would be careful at who ya show them to though. Some peeps may not think they are .......well, some peeps may not like them. Be careful!

cedarview kid

I saw a really nice glass-covered framed set of two Lugers, two nice daggers with German sign on them (maybe officer's daggers?), with armbands and scarves or other such fabric. I would have LOVED to own them, but was even too afraid to ask the price. I'm sure they weren't cheap.

I can see where some people would have a problem with something like that, though, but if they do, they don't understand collecting anyway.

Just don't use them as a halloween costume.

ephraim

I have no use for anything to do with Nazi, collectable or not. But that's just my history. However, on a lighter note, I would like to find the original "checkered grips for the mag. frame, and would pay a premium if reasonable.

   E!

flyinbiker2001

By the way im a jew I keep the PPK around to remind myself that a bad leader can lead you were you dont want to go ironic today isnt it, in sturgis a few years ago there was a white power booth I stopped and asked the fellow if he was former military he said no and I asked how he earned the right to claim I am a bad person when I shed blood on foreign soil in the service of my country and he had not served at all,he had no reply and for the rest of the week the booth was staffed bo a 17 year old boy-any way my only point is NEVER FORGET

flyinbiker2001

Oh on that trend of thought my being a former Marine did you folks know we lost 3 or 4 % of our POW's in german hands however we lost 33 % in Jap hands and we had no war crime trials-one of the fellows who orderd the execution of our POW's was named Suzuki-my point is still Leadership and NEVER FORGET- we are all god fearing americans we dont need to go on a rant we know right from wrong

cedarview kid

I would be interested in collecting such material because, frankly, the Germans made some pretty good stuff. About the only military weaponry I own is a Yugoslavian SKS, which I really enjoy shooting. I like it for what it is, tho, not because it represents a comnuinst regime, but because it's a reliable weapon that's fun to shoot.

cedarview kid

I didn't know that statistic regarding POWs. Thanks for sharing.

ephraim

My ancestors are German of which I am very proud. They came to this country  around 1720. The good people of Germany had nothing in common with the Nazis or that regime. They suffered as well. Yes, the Germans have always reflected excellent craftsmanship. My Dad owned and operated a machine shop in which I worked during my teenage years. Yes, Flyin,  we must never forget!

   E!

chopprs

......just a note here. I am not sure that everyone here knows this but if you were to be caught with those IN GERMANY,.....you would be arrested! Any Nazi paraphanalia is illegal there.

The German people are VERY sore to this day of the Nazi regime and feel VERY strongly about it.

A lot of people that live in other parts of the world that have ancestors that were killed there are shy about the subject. It is up to us ALL to remain respectful of this FOREVER! Things like this are important.

I personally think stuff like that is really kewl but I am always careful about showing it or talking about it.....

ephraim

Chopprs,

Well said! It could not have been stated better.

   E!

cedarview kid

Yeah, very good point, Chops. Thanks for pointing that out.
