I was being too simple the first time.
So, here is how I see it. If you are going to carry it then the Black widow is the largest one I would look at. It has decent sights (get fixed) a 2" barrel for more velocity and a grip most can hold on to. That is the best performer in my opinion. It is the largest you would want to pocket carry in most cases.

If you want smaller, then any on the 15/8" barrels would be the next stop, (Wasp, Magnum et al). They are a little smaller and lighter with some small loss of velocity and different grips (you will probable change grips to suit- no big deal). Some can be had at a very good price.
Next down the list would be the 11/2" Barrels the SW and the Bug out II.. not much change in size with some unique options. The BOII has trit sights available, and for me that is the only plus, but plus it is. The sidewinder has a roll out cylinder so no taking it apart to reload.

Then you are down to the really small guns and really small barrels so even less velocity, less performance but hide very easily. For me not enough performance, so I stoped looking, as it is a small round and I wanted to maximize the performance. Just me.

So, my answer is to get the longest barrel you are willing to carry everyday (if you carry), and if sights are a bonus look for the BOII or the Black Widow. What ever you get, plan on customizing it with grips that fit you and a good holster. JMO...YMMV.

I do not think of myself as making a lot of posts, but the numbers have  built up over six years. I try not to make a lot of posts that essentially say me too. Sometimes I am still considering the exact point that I want to make when the thread dies out.

Right now I seem to post a lot. But when the foot heals (had the surgery waiting for the infection to go and the bone to actually heal) I will be back to work. For now I have the time on my hand to read, to learn and to post. That too will change, as there seems to be less to learn, and more that is just the same old same old. I like you guys, but there does seem to be a limit to this kind of media.

I am out of the apartment 45 minutes a day. Take out the trash and get the mail.
We go to the store about every 3 weeks. I run to the corner store for milk & stuff in between. Like once a week. Gone for about an hour.
The rest of the time we spend in this little 25' X 25' apartment.
Been living like this for 10 years and 2 months.
Maybe that is why I post so much.

6.3% have made only one post.
Where as.
73.5% have made zero posts.

So, 20.2 % have made more than one post. And some of us wish a few of those had made zero....LOL

Back to the OP! Wondering if he has considered for a second the Guardian? Somebody here has to champion it, especially the often maligned 32. Smaller than any pistol except a .25 ACP. Same size and weight (15 oz loaded) as the revered (?) Seecamp, with better features. Solid stainless, easy take down, 1911 style mag release. Shoots any .32 ACP, Seecamp is HP only. Slight step down ballistically from the Guardian 380, which weighs 6 oz more and kicks a good bit harder.

We now return you to the regularly scheduled mini program......

Uncle Lee, I hope that when I am you age my wife and I sre still kicking too.

To me, a really sad thing is that I have known and worked with folks who would be very happy to live the life you describe as long as they did not have to actually work. Their life ambition was to sit on a sofa and watch TV. One guy said his hobby was sleeping when someone asked him if he had a hobby! That was a young fellow. Now I will admit, that at age 65 sleeping is a lot more desireable than I ever dreamed back in my twenties when it never occurred to me that someone might not sleep the night through without waking unless their lover woke them up. That ain't happened to me for a few years. On the other hand if I did what I did before going to sleep back then I might never wake up. As for a nap - seeking a nice undisturbed nap is like seeking for a owl in the woods at night.

Back in the mid 90's the factory where I was working closed down. I had another job opening coming up in 5 months so I went to work at Wall World in Hardware.
They had me be door greeter one Sunday afternoon but only for a couple of hours. I would end up blocking the door with so many people standing and talking.
I loved being the door greeter.

OK, like it or not, I am off topic and posted again.

Uncle Lee, I can empathize with you, and I'm in a pretty different situation. My wife and I have a three bedroom house, but we spend 90% of awake time in the living room. Two cars, 14 and 16 years old, luckily both are just over 100k miles. We both work,  but jobs we can barely tolerate. Both were okay at one time, but mismanagement and clueless bosses have gradually let both places become miserable.

We love coming home, and sleep is a welcome break. We get out for groceries, or cheap fast food, but both are only about six blocks away. New jobs could make life a lot more pleasant, but at 62 no one hires you for good jobs and pay.

I am 65. I did however say, once the bone in my foot actually heals I will be going back to work; as in work in the canoe shop. Not retiring and going to Wally world, that is not for me. Just back to the regular grind. I will do that until I can't anymore. it is a part of who I am.

Speaking of age, I'm no youngster myself at age 73. I still work more or less full time but with  a very flexible schedule and about a third of the time that I'm in my office I'm goofing around on the internet. When I think about retirement I always come up when the question, "Why? How can I improve on this?" I don't  like to work on projects around the house, don't have a time consuming hobby or manual skills   - and I've yet to see what the point is with golf. I'd rather just go for a walk, you don't have to keep score to do that. I'm in good health and enjoy riding my motorcycle a Few times a month but if I did it a lot more I would lose interest.  If it ain't broke don't fix it. This time on year I enjoy my handguns, my latest of which is my 22 LR mini I just got an fired my first 50 rounds through today. Yippee! (I'll post about that soon). I'm enjoying life more than I ever have because I know our time here is limited and I appreciate things more because of that. I like talking with other old guys - they have a unique spin on life the youngsters usual don't.

Boy did this thread get hi jacked! BTW the guy who started this post hasn't been back so who knows if he's heard any of the answers to his questions. Now that's funny right there, to quote Larry The Cable Guy.
