Just bought another brick of GD 22 Mag... Now where is that 22 mag rifle? I am still saving up for that...I get back to work, part time in a week, get the boot of next month if all goes well.

So what 22 mag rifle do you like?

Nothin fancy. I want a gun that shoots well, mabe in a lever action, maybe a semi-auto, certainly wood stocks, like the idea of peep sights. Still looking and for now, it will be mostly  be based on price, as the wife is not a shooter, and can't see spending the money for a good one. Once I get back to work and caught up, it may not be such an issue...

I am still pondering a rimfire rifle with a threaded barrel, wanting a takedown semiauto model does narrow the choices.

I like my Henry 22 Mag and the Remington 22 mag, it isn't made anymore though.

Henry makes a really nice 22 mag pump.

Mine is a Big Boy levergun but they make others.

A Winchester 9422M-XTR levergun, a Ruger 77RM boltgun, & a Chiappa Double Badger .22WMR/.410 folding O/U combination gun.

I'm fond of my customized Little Badger.

And you can get it in wood, too.

Very nice Biff. I like that one.

.22 Magnum rifles are a cool beast. I have a .22 Circuit Judge with both a .22LR and .22-Magnum cylinder, but I haven't had it out shooting yet because for some reason the cylinder jams on double-action. I think it' just needs cleaned.

Also, my daughter and I also have a Savage rifle chambered in .17-HMR. Not exactly .22-Mangum, but close, and they are tack drivers and fun shoot.

I also have a .22-Magnum single-shot barrel for my multi-caliber Rossi single-shot rifle.

The 12-inch barrel on my Taurus Hunter 981 revolver is almost a rifle, eh? ROFL. That's a fun one to shoot as well, if you can keep the barrel up--it's pretty heavy on the barrel end. :)

I also inherited a .22-WRF Winchester model 90 made in about 1906. That's kind of a ,22-Mini-Magnum and it's my daughter's favorite rifle to shoot.

I really like the Badger and have been thinking about getting one. I need a job first, though, LOL.

I really just want one that works for me. When I say works, I mean is reasonably accurate, durable, has some capacity, and it must have wood trim. The rest is negotiable...

I have a Ruger 77/22 magnum in their target gray finish. What I don't like about it is if I miss, it is not the rifle's fault, at least out to about 100 yards. I would like to add a CZ to the stable, but so far I can't talk me into it.

Still not working. Problem is, I'm a senior-level software developer, and I think the salary requirements are scaring people off. It's also at a time when employers are reevaluating their needs. Half of the jobs for which I have been interviewing lately get closed without being filled, which is also a bummer.

I don't have the teacup out sitting on the street yet, so I'm good. :)

Theres always the Wal-Mart greeter thing or bagger at a supermarket to fill in the spare time . Glad your still good though.  ;)  Besides at Wal-Mart you'll be the first to know when the new ammo is in .  ;)

Wal-Mart is doing away with the greeter position.

Uncle Lee, that is very sad too.  We are all tracked like animals and your privacy, isn't yours anymore. :'(

I looked at the Henry Frontier with a 24" threaded barrel, but think I really want the Small Game carbine w/ a 17" barrel. Seems handier. I also like the carbine version of the Big Boy in .357/38

A couple of years ago, I picked up a used CZ 452 Lux for $380. Humpback, long barrel, open sights. Cleaned it up, went to the range, and shot a 1" group at 50 yards with open sights from sandbag rests. I thought that was a fluke, so I shot a few more groups. Most of them right at 1" at 50 yards. I can't even see that well. So I'm really happy with the CZ. Don't overlook the used rack.

Canoeal

I won't, trust me.

Canoeal,
My choice would be to go with the Henry rifles. But,as you know, there many good choices out there.

I guess that is half the fun, figuring out which one to get.

One of the guys at the LGS says no to Henrys . He did not say why. He like remingtons and Marlins, but I can't find one I can afford. Still not ready to "pull the trigger"...

My major wish is a Ruger 10/22 in magnum series . Then my rifles will be complete . :)

A magnum 10/22 would be a good one, for now I have an old Remington Semiauto they no longer make in 22 Mag.

Henry just placed a side loading gate on two of their large bore lever guns. They still have the end tube loader but now also have the side loader too. Now when they move this to all their lever guns choosing the best lever gun made will be an easy choice.  8)

I have the Henry Small Game Carbine in .22M and it is smooth as butter and a sweet shooter. Octagon barrel and receiver peep sight. Balances very well in the carbine length, the longer barrel felt off balance to me.

That is what I was thinking , that the 20"rifle would be a littler nose heavy, and the 24" rifle with a can would be at least as bad. The carbine looks better to my eye. That and at 35 inches, the carbine seems very handy. Have you shot it much? How accurate is it?
