The largest I have is a Ranger II with boot grips and that works fine in any of my front pockets with a DGL holster with speed loader.  From reading hear I think the BW with a 2" barrel would also be fine.  But what about a 2.5 " barrel, a 3" barrel, etc.?

I carried my 4" Earl once in the front pocket of a pair of jeans.   You could see the tip of the butt peeking out.

I carry my 2.5" Sidewinder with boot grips in my front pocket. It fits but with no room to spare. My 3" Earl is just a little too long for my front pocket.

Really don't like pocket carry but I have been known to have short in my watch pocket otherwise its a magnum in a belt case , (Freedom Arms snap flap case) or something similar .

I've carried my Black Widow with thingmeister grips in a sticky holster and it has been quite comfortable.

i had teh 2.5 inch sherriff and the bw, found the bw was about the max for me.

RICKS PLACE

I have found the 2 in. B/W is the max I can carry in a pocket holster in my blue jeans, which is all I wear.  (for many years)  My Wrangler's have started skimping on pocket length over the years and I have had to have some of the right front pockets have an added couple of inches for my Smith light weight J frame. (Ten bucks a pocket.)  But my B/W, Pug, and Ranger II still work fine.

I have carried my Black Widow in a front pocket in a DGL holster many many times without anyone knowing.  I have also carried larger firearms, though in a holster made elsewhere, without trouble.  BJ, if you learn how to dress to conceal, you can carry a rifle if you wanted to...

My BW. No problem...Either my DGL or a Sticky both work. DGL looks better but the Stick works in the Boatshop...

I carry my 22LR with the folding grip holster in the watch pocket/5th pocket of my jeans. Works great. With other pants I either carry it as IWB or in a front pocket that doesn't have keys in it.
If you're not swimming against the current you're being carried along with it.

Carried the below Snub 357 mag and a little derringer (38spl), different pockets, 357 ws in a little nylon pocket holster and the derringer I kept in the front pocket on my chest of my overalls.

Never had a problem, even in places that asked a person not to carry.  Only a few of those here in TH,IN but no one ever even called the police on me, which they certainly were doing often on folks not doing anything wrong, just doing it because they could and feared the armed citizen...

Uncle Fatso

I've carried a 4" Earl in my jeans front pocket without anybody noticing. I wear relaxed fit Wranglers from Walmart. In a "husky" size (42-32).  ;)

Warty; a Mac 10 would be easier as well as probably more effective up close.  ;D

Don't own one Rogue.  Never wanted one either but I have fired a few.

There was some serious discussion about this when the Sheriff was released.  It was generally agreed the 2.5" Sheriff was about the limit for most pockets.

The R2 seems fine and although I don't have one to try, I'm confident the BW would be fine too.  Getting to the the 2.5" barrel or more I suspect the holster gets more critical for keeping the grip far enough into the pocket, especially for larger grips.  I appreciate the comments, thanks.

At this age, it seems that switching to something that needs an untucked shirt would be a little difficult because that would be totally new for me.  On the other hand, EDC in a front pocket makes my other pocket kind of crowded.  I am getting to really like cargo pants.

Bj-

I have worn jeans all my life, up until about 10-12 years ago. I was forced into either cargo pants or uniform of the day for firearms training. It is a rare thing now that I wear jeans. The cargo pants I prefer (5.11) are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Once you get used to them, you will notice other comfort features that you will really appreciate. :)

Grayelky, same here.  I grew up with blue jeans, but when I retired from the Army; I missed all those pockets.  Now all I have are 5.11 taclite pros and stryker tactical type cargo pants.  They work well with pocket holsters.  I quit tucking my shirts in when I started carrying years ago as well.  Works for me.

Cargo pants and jeans are good for concealing things BJ.  Overalls, for me, are also good.

I still wear trim fitting cowboy cut Wranglers. The largest mini I can pocket carry and have disappear is the 1 5/8" 22mag. Bigger than that prints through the jeans and is uncomfortable for a small guy like me to wear.  When I'm hiking in the hills I belt-carry my 4" Earl with two rounds of snake shot up front that I've never had to use. I've seen a handful of rattlesnakes but so far they've all been polite and I've left them alone.
