 ;)
It's a good day when you pick up a new toy tool  (you know, I use them for work!)  ;)

A "regular" customer was in the shop needing a new holster/mag carrier for a new acquisition of his and while talking he said he had too many 1911's.  I told him I didn't have any  :o

So, he brought this in for me to see.  After some "Horse Trading" and "Wheeling & Dealing" we both were happy with the deal.   :D

I brought it home for Mrs. Gun Leather to check it out. "Approved"  :) (You know, it's a tool I use for work everyday, wink - wink.)  ::)

I'm not fooling her a bit! She could tell I'm pretty "Stoked" with the gun (my first 1911!)  :)

Now there will be a real 1911 in the DGL Holster Photos.  1911 Holsters are about 35% to 40% of our sales most months.

Here is a photo for proof! lol!!

Thanks for looking!

Good looking firearm Rick. You gotta have the right tools in order to produce a quality holster  ;)

Nice! I am probably one of the few men here without a 1911. Now I guess you have to make a really cool holster to wear around the shop with that gun.

I have owned 3 in my lifetime.
Gave them all away.
Just don't care for them.

Rick,
That is really nice!!!  Can't beat a design that is 100+ years old and still going strong.

If I were to have only one piece for self defense, the 1911 would get my nod.

Over 50 years ago, when I was in 'Nam,the one I had was loose as a goose, probably seen WW1,WW 2,Korea but it still worked just fine.

Cartridge is proven as well.    Can't go wrong on all counts.

Let us hear how it does on the range.

I have two 1911s, and have owned more than 20, various sized ones, all I have now are two full sized.

Nope. No 1911. I like my hands, scarred up and arthritic as they may be...

Me, too.  No 1911s in the herd.  9mm is my largest semi-auto caliber.

Dang, just shooting two cylinders of rounds in my LCR 38sp is enough for my hand to sing the song of pity.  I've tried out my son's 1911, and, yes, it was less snappy than the LCR, but I really gravitate toward the ones I can shoot longer than 1 minute.

I am definitely in the "Shot Placement" camp rather than the "Knock Down Power" camp.   As said many times, a hole where it doesn't belong is never good; especially when it is in a really bad place.

I prefer to carry my "Mini's" this thing weighs a ton!  No one wants a .22 magnum hole in them!

What? A holster maker without a 1911? I would have never thought it so! Well now that you have rectified that matter let us know how it performs.  8)

I know! It was so embarrassing, showing my "cool" 1911 Holsters with a "Blue Gun".  Once in a while I would have access to a friends 1911 and I used it for some photos.

I always thought people secretly laughed at me for not having a 1911  :o  But now I know they don't pay attention to me anyway.... and are still laughing at me!  :)

I'm looking forward to shooting this. My only experience of shooting a .45 was my Glock 30 and that was...... lets say, uncomfortable.  ;)  I sold it and have never missed it!  :)

RICKS PLACE

Don't make fun of the "other" Rick for not having a 1911.  I had an armorer MOS in 1958 in the army.  Had M1 Carbines and 1911's  in my keeping.  Still consider the 1911 the finest combat handgun ever made. (for other folks that can handle it)  Considering it is still one of the most popular handguns after over a 100 years, seems to be many that agree with me.  I  don't have one.  Never that accurate with one. Noted that when our department would qualify as the calibers increased, (38sp to 38 +P, to 357 Mag, to.45 ACP) accuracy decreased on an overall average.  Have used a 5906 Smith for years and carried one during my last years as a LEO.  For all around handgun defense, it is still my choice.
Nothing against any brand of the modern 1911's, I would choose the Ruger all stainless Commander model of all the 1911's on today's market.  I think Ruger has improved on a couple of the original's  shortcomings for instance, the thumb safety spring tube by making it a part of the frame instead of being "staked" on.  But then that's me.

KEN AR

Wow,  Rick has a 1911!  New job has kept me from stopping by to see the new "toys".   Watch out that 1911 addiction can get as bad as NAAitis.

Love the 1911.  Had many Colts over the years and now down to one Colt and a project Olympic Arms frame I've been working on for about 20 years...

I will say I think you started off with one of the BEST 1911's.  That Kimber is nice.  Now once it goes next door to ROBAR for a little polish and coating it will be TOP SHELF!

Congrats,  I'll have to bring mine by for a show and tell.  Of course I might get convinced I need custom leather for it...

Bring it by!  There could be a Holster in the works for it!

I keep looking out the front door (it is locked after dark, as you know) every evening about 6:30 when I hear any noise to see if it's you.  :)

No one has been "sighted in" on while sneaking around the building...... lately  ::)

Your S & W Governor has been getting a "work out" though! Built a couple Holsters with it so far and working on another.   :D

The new job has me down in South Scottsdale close to the house. I'm doing Sunday - Thursday 10AM -7PM now so no way to stop by after work anymore.  That was the only benefit I had at the other job was that it was close to Desert Gun Leather!

The good news is my fuel cost has gone WAY down,  now to figure out how to apply that savings to Guns and Holsters!

I picked up this Kimber Stainless II some years back. It's been a good shooter.

OV-1D

That is a beautiful piece Billt , something about the 1911 profile to gain a lot of command and attention . Its a style that only can be copied and that alone shows its popularity . Thanks for the pictures you guys . :)

Billt460  Nice looking gun!  I haven't shot mine yet but looking forward to it!

Here is another pic of mine.  It has been getting a workout this week in Holster Photos.  I'll post some of those next week.

Maybe I'll get to the Range this weekend  :)

A Colt Commander being tuned and upgraded by the Smith. Not quite finished yet, but hopefully soon.

New front slide serrations for that perfect "press check."

Look at that throat job!

Front strap hand checkering at 25 lpi, new front Big Dot night sight and a custom adjustable rear sight set up for that Big Dot front.

Thanks for the pictures Rogue!

I love "special tools" for doing the job.  I haven't had a chance to see many for gun smiths. Yet.....  ;)
