OH BOY aren't you the talk of the town now . Ain't it a sweet piece of mechanized metal and a great set of grips to boot , dang now I gotta pull mine out to fondle .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

That looks really special with those grips.

I know you my not want to give out the actual serial number you chose, but can you give some description of what it is? A name, date, whatever?

Very nice sir. Do you plan on running some rounds thru her or you gonna keep her mint?

Congrats again. Remember, guns are meant to be fired. Enjoy.

Again, congratulations on the good fortune! I really like the original. In my eyes, it is superior cosmetically.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

I have to agree with you on the looks of the I verses the II, but I have to carry it a bit farther.  I do not like the look of the lock system on the II.  Especially if you are going to put it into a holster.  It sure looks to me like it would push the latch back and release the action to open when going into a holster.  It may be perfectly fine, but sure not for me.
Remember folks this only my opinion and worth maybe a little less then what you paid for it.
A gun is like a parachute; if you need it and don't have it, you probably won't need it again.

Congratulations, I know that I am new here, but what do I have to do to participate in the drawings?

Just watch for one to be announced, maybe next year is my guess and that is definitely only a guess.

For those mentions of the cosmetics, locks, and sights of both Rangers, a comparison photo from American Handgunner :

Photo of the S&W Perfected, their last top break 1909-1920. I see a lot of resemblance here to the Ranger I :

Interesting comparisons between those guns.   Thanks. I like that Ranger I.

Was there a problem with the Ranger I design that prompted the Ranger II?

Interesting comparisons between those guns.   Thanks. I like that Ranger I.

I remember reading somewhere that the design was too complicated to manufacture for a reasonable price. I don't know how true that is.
