This is my first post, but I'm a long time naa shooter. I'd love to see a sidewinder with a black widow style
Barrel

Yeah, that would be interesting. I'm wondering if the engineering costs wouldn't make it unlikely, tho?

And WELCOME TO THE BOARD!

TwoGunJayne

So, uncle lee... it's almost like you nominated somone....

BigCountry86

Further innovation I believe would have to have engineering costs anyway. And I believe
That would be the best looking way to add a longer barrel..
It would kinda remind me of a mini anaconda.

Hmmmm... I wonder who he is hinting to.....?

Well, until someone steps up, I will look into it a little.

As promised, I sent an email to the Big Guy:

Sandy-
Have been reading on this thread (and I suspect you have)? If not, start on page 4, post #110, uncle_lee:

If this is something you would consider, I would act as the "manager", and deal with the members, collecting the funds, paying NAA, receiving the guns and shipping them to their FFL holders, if it would facilitate the "group buy".

As always, he was prompt with a reply. I'll let you read his words:

Luther - Yes, I have seen this.  Perhaps (I hope) you and the others in our Message Board community understand that we are in a manufacturing frenzy, attempting to address the extraordinary backlog that we (and others) are enjoying.  I'll admit that (at this point, at least) what's being described would be an extraordinary distraction and an interruption to our ordinary business and production methods.  Perhaps at a much later date, but I honestly can't hold out much hope.

The good news is, he did not say "No." I personally don't see this happening within the next year, BUT, your crystal ball is as clear as mine.

Sandy just needs to clean his fan off. I'm patient. I also want this, as I'm sure the other spoken forumites do. I can wait.

I am just hoping that NAA gets another barrel length Sidewinder into production this year. Preferably something in the two inch to three inch range. I think I might have to buy a pair of Sidewinders in that length barrel. Unlike those who want a Superhog I am not interested in Minis with barrels over three inches, though I can understand if NAA wants to get a four inch California legal version into production first.

I WILL get a pair of 4" Sidewinders as soon as they are ready to sell them to me.

How about a compromise? Have the four barrel tip-up design of the Cop, and the single action hammer with rotating firing pin of the Sharps?

That would eliminate the liability problem of owners using the palm of their weak hand on the muzzle end to close a sliding barrel group, ala the 4-Aces.

Update... Just realized this post was in response to the lasts posts on page 1 of this thread. Sorry for being out of context here.

When you are younger, you don't give a second thought about waiting for something you want.
You will reach an age where you look at a time frame and wonder if there is time enough to wait.
I just watched the first movie in the "Hobbit" trilogy.
The third one is due out on disc in the first part of 2015. I hope I get to see it.

Me too, Lee...

I go on Medicare/Tricare for Life later this year. I had a series of four strokes a few years ago, until they got me on the right combination of blood meds. The lower half of my left arm and hand is always numb, like I slept on it wrong. Never realized how much I used my left hand to complement what I was doing with my right hand.

I also just got The Hobbit. Fell asleep on the first try to watch it. There's still time to try again. Went out shooting with my black powder club Saturday morning. needed some help to load at a pace to keep up, but grouped all shots in the black at 25 yards on critter silhouettes. Rendezvous is coming Memorial Day weekend, and getting things together for that event.

One day at a time...

There was a time that I loaded the revolvers with just my hands and the loading lever.
Then I had to go with a stand.
Then I had to go with a cylinder loader. Now that even is hard on the wrists.
My black powder revolvers just lay now or have been converted to cartridge.

Well as a famous Seasoned Citizen (my Daddy) said one time. "Getting old aint no fun but it beats the heck out of dying young..which is the only other alternative I know about." parpahrasing but real close.lol. What was causing all the strokes Cav? I am supposed to be more likely to have one than some due to heart A Fib..and I forget to keep taking my rat poison a year or so back. Now doing two baby aspirins a day. Not as effective to thin the blood but not as likely to die from a bleed out either..as is the custom of rats.

As the old saying goes " you're only as old as you feel" There are days I'm still 18 and others I'm 98. So just go with the flow and live life as it comes. I had a heart attack last year, came close enough to see the Lord's hand but he sent me back to pester my kids and with no heart damage on top of that.

Most days I feel like an 18-year-old in a 45-year-old's body--although sometimes I'd like to think I have more wisdom that an 18-year-old and sometimes feel like my body is getting approaching 60 much too fast.

Praise the Lord on that miraculous recovery!! Sounds like there may be some big plans in store for you. Surely He wouldn't patch a person up for no reason. Them kids obviously need pestering. Prob a few others who would miss your talents. Hearty congrats.

They ran all the tests and scans, but could not identify the source of the clots that caused left side losses.

Stress at work with "do it my way" supervisors not schooled or skilled in my trade I feel contributed. I was smoking back then, which everybody blamed it on. I was not taking any form of corrective medications... Actually felt pretty good!

Now I'm on blood pressure, blood thinner, diuretic, cholesterol, and low dose aspirin... morning and evening. Up until the stroke, my pill intake was about one bottle of aspirin every 3 to 4 years!  :(

How about the .22LR mini with some useable sights.  Something along the line of the Pug.  I carry a .22LR frequently but my Black Widow gets shot 10x more because it has sights you can see.

adp3, have you tried an Earl variant? Their sights are very visible and nice.

Hey Cav..keep on hanging in there. My Grandpa had a bad one on the left. He was like new in a year or so. Could not even tell he had had one.  Adp3..they call useable sights a plain Jane model with the holster grips.

Thanks for the support. I actually drove myself to the Emergency Room each time it hit. I continued to work for a year after they hit before retiring, as a Manual and CNC Machinist... driving 40 miles each way to and from work (Dakota Pickup with automatic transmission).

I am still making plans for future events. Happy every morning I can get out of bed! One day at a a time...  :)

Great philosophy Sir. Know you will back to your old self soonish.  Sad tale for my machinist pal..aka Mikey the One Legged One Eared One weld BBQ Welder.  He had his own welding shop for a long while and bizness got bad so he went to work as a machinist 60 hrs a week each week. Standing on his feet each of those hours cept for coffee break or something. Thats a purty good trick for a fellow with a wooden leg huh? Then since he was in the chips he seen the ad for an overnight surgery to get rid of neck pain..which come from the same scooter dump which cost him the leg. Well they done it and turned him into a total invalid on a walker for going on three years. Morale is..stay away from doctors. Now he lost the ear to getting his umbilical cord entangled around it. The one weld thing comes because back when he had the shop he would do one daub..and stop to have a Miller Light. Crazy folks in the world huh?

Gazpacho

I want a trigger 1/4" longer.  Sell it like an accessory to be installed by a gunsmith.  (Hey, NAA, if you can make me 100 triggers, I will buy them all!)

4" Ranger, sold for whatever price NAA needs in order to make a profit.

How about a single shot, break action, adjustable sight, 6" barrel pistol.  It would be a perfect pistol for ultralight backpacking, to be used for foraging.

adp3

2GJ
Yep.  Tried the Earl and went back to my BW with small wood grips.  The Earl's sights are definitely an improvement on the standard models'.  It would be nice to see something similar to the Earl's on the standard LR Mini.  The LR mini's only shortcoming for me are the sights.  The Ellett Brothers' version of the LR Mini with the Tritium/Dot sight would be great to see as a regular offering.

The sights on my mini are great. They are just hard to see in a standard shooting configuration..especially for fat handed folks. They dang sure aint much worse than what comes on a Model 28 Smith. All that is needed is to be able to catch a glimpse of the sights. That is where the holster grips..aka floppy wobblers or other extended grips should contribute to an overall good outcome. Aint had a chance to shoot mine with the new holster grips yet (that coincided with Obie taking our bullets so cant afford to waste any ammo on experimental stuff) but I know it will be a big improvement just from looking. I do not believe in shooting for pleasure so I dont use up a lot of ammo. Now for good sights on a pistol look down the barrel of Colt Trooper Mark III sometimes. Those are nearly as good as having a scope on it. Take care.

Hearty welcome Sir? This place is highly cornfusing. Glad you made it on over. Drag up a keg of gun powder and have a seat up next to the fire. Now are you a corn cob General MaCarthur pipe smoker or maybe you like the more modern looking model which Clark Kent preferred? They also have them which looks like little space ships. Surely you do not like those. Borkum Riff..uh rah.
