boot grips

New guy here. I just ordered a Wasp but I'm thinking I'm going to want slightly larger grips than the stock ones but I do like the looks of the bird grips. Has anyone ever altered a set of boot grips to give them a curve similar to the stock grips? I would think the boot grips take a little away from concealability. I know there are oversize rosewood grips available but to me they are less aesthetically pleasing. I would appreciate any input.

I didn't alter boot grips, I believe it can be done. I would want to see where and if there are extra alignment pins under the grips though. You might have to deal with them... I made my own...you would have to be careful if they are laminated...I think my pic is what you are talking about

old man 84-
Welcome!

My favorite grip is the Revision CV. He is currently making them out of G10, which seem popular here on the forum. I have not seen, nor handled a set, but, they seem to have promise. I feel they would be worthy of your consideration.

Canoeal, your grips are what I had in mind. I've altered an old leather pocket holster to make a rough looking IWB holster. With those grips I think the Wasp would simply disappear under a t-shirt or sweat shirt. I have seen the revision grips and believe, functionally, they would also work but the look just doesn't appeal to me. Thank you both for your input. I'll post some pics as soon as I meet the minimum requited posts.

humble advice from another newbie is to simply buy the cv grips.  they are exceedingly well done and nice looking, plus feel great in the hand.

It does disappear. Do you any woodworking skills? Not major ones but the ability to work a desktop sander or a belt sander turned upside down?

Can anyone post the inside photo of a set of boot grips?

Homemade or stock Al ?  Heres a set of my ivories and some stock pieces . I always make my riser for the inside alignment and attach with rubberized glue and tiny brass countersunk screws and cut them just so-so to fit that gun . NAA doesn't finish off the interior frames like they use to so any given grip would fit any given gun but not anymore , shame on them , never had to trim any grip like you have to now . I'm still looking for more grip panels to show you but my computer is a real pain trying to sort out any particular pic so I have to go down memory lane to find anything . Any questions you might have about making the boot grips I'll try a help with the easiest way possible  . Oh the reason I make panels is for a just so alignment which I'm pretty anal about , no shifting or overhang , centered perfectly but again they are made for any specific gun that I'm making them for , they sometimes fit other guns but not usually . The second to the last are a early NAA set and the last is a Spresser(?) set on how he does his grips .

Yep, that is what I thought. I learned about those inset panels from OV-wan the NAA master, but I epoxy them in place.

You would have to be very careful not to expose the pins, but it could be done. Mine are longer, and with 1 pin, easier to work around.

Al on those ivories I did add alignment pins (2) at the end finished pair as I do with all my boots , they are a pain to get just right but very necessary to keep them from slipping out of alignment . These are the last set I made I believe there O.K. but not my cup of tea so to say , covered too much of the gun I think ..

OV; those first ivories look tremendous. They almost look like the Secret Service Grips I am so fond of. Those would be great on sayyyyyyy, my Pug.  ;D

PS:
Quotenever had to trim any grip like you have to now

I found that out a few weeks ago with my newest set of Rosewood Secret Service Grips. First time I actually had to break out the dremel and fit the grips to the frame of my Mini. Got it done and they now fit great but there was no way they were going to fit from the factory. Never had that before.

I guessed as much. I put the pin(s) in before finish sanding to line in order to them at the final sanding. I was looking to see the NAA Boot grips in order to see how much could be done to convert them to long boot grip, like Oldman84 asked...

Welcome to the asylum Forum!

I believe you can add photos to a post but they won't appear until someone verifies them, usually in a couple days.  The first 15 feel like it takes forever to get through!

Post your Holster modification. I always enjoy seeing what works for those of us that actually carry these guns!

I have tried every style of grip available that can be purchased retail.  I prefer the Revision G-10's (JMHO)

There are certainly some very talented people in this community. As I posted previously I'm new to this. Just took delivery of my Wasp on Saturday. With my advancing arthritis I knew going with the stock grips was going to be out of the question. I've picked up a set of used rubber oversize grips that a friend had laying around. I've modified an old leather pocket holster for IWB carry and a old Remora mag holder as a pocket holster. I needed something right away as due to my aforementioned condition I'm down to the 22 mag as the only carry gun. Certainly not the ideal self defense weapon but it is what it is. Being on a limited retirement income I have to budget for gun, ammo and accessory purchases but am definitely planning on something nicer than my current holsters. I also think I'm going to add the Sidewinder with the 2.5 barrel. Might get a tad more velocity with the additional 1.25 inches of barrel yet still easily concealed.

Funny the grips on your BW in the pic have a similar shape to the first cherry set I did for my BW.

Much better photo OV for speculating on Pug wear. I do believe those white Ivories would be perfect on a Pug and that photo just about 100% confirms it.  :P

Ivory is still available but you must give up their first borne . Some mammoth ivory can be found that looks identical maybe a little less white , still pricy though . Rogue on that oversized ivory grip set its that way because I couldn't part with shaping it down some and losing more material in the process but it worked out with the grab and grip and looks . :)

I love all the different grips pictured here, but I must be a poop   ::) . . .I like the standard Boot Grips from NAA.  As questioned from the OP, they don't add any issues with concealment, and I get a great grip with them.  I would love to venture into making some grips, but the project list for me from the wife and adult children never seems to get any shorter.

Nothing wrong with the Boot grips. I just choose to make my own...Get the adult children to do their own.

Where have all the creative minds gone , craftsmen , heck even laborers . Down here in Florida if it wasn't for Latin Americans working at everything Florida would collapse and implode . If you go before I do OV; please leave those Ivories to my Trust for my Pug. They will remain for all times in the War Room collection on the western estate where all can drool over their beauty.  :)
