Thinking of selling my EB Ranger II... Valuable or Not?

I'm thinking of trying to sell my EB Ranger II.
I've kinda been out of the loop with these recently with these. It comes both cylinders and Desert Gun Leather holster.  Revolver has never been fired or carried.  Are these sought after or not really?

Some of these forum members are likely to be interested, among others. Being the first, and very limited edition, makes EBs special.

I do think selling it could be something you'd regret later. I'd think long and hard first. You say you're "out of the loop" with them? In what way? Do you own other minis?

Not been on the forum for a while makes me feel a little uneducated on how the EB's are being viewed. I currently don't own any minis, but have in the past.

Bigbird48

the EB's had a lot of problems most of us had to send them back more then once to get the bugs out, since you say you have not fired yours you have no idea what problems it has and to me that makes it worth less. JMO but I'd like to know the gun Im buying is going to work ok. I would suggest a range day with it find out what it needs and get it in good working order before trying to sell it.And since these have now been in production for a couple year theres lots of them out there so an EB with problems might not get that much attention.

Bigbird does make some sense. However, if you are looking for max money, being unfired is where it will be. I would have some interest in it, as long as it is unfired. Like Canoeal, I am also interested in the serial number.

I'm with Bird on this.
I got a pair of the EB's but knew that at some time I would sell them. I couldn't sell them with clear conscience not knowing if they worked or not. So I returned them for a refund.
I think the EB would only be of interest to a collector. That is for extra money.

I am watching the Ranger II on GunBroker daily. Price is holding pretty study to down a little.

Weren't they "Test Fired" at the factory ?
If so ... & I'm betting they were .... then "Unfired" is a Farce.

Fired is Fired..
You are correct, in part. Every manufacturer will test fire every gun prior to it leaving the factory. When collectors refer to unfired condition, it refers to AFTER the firearm left the factory. No collector is under the assumption the firearm in question has never been fired. The interest is in it not having been fired after leaving the factory.

Someone saying that "This gun has never been fired"  adds NOTHING to perceived value to me.
Too much like the used car salesman saying this heap was only driven to church by a little old lady.
I would much rather hear a guy say "a box or two of ammo has been fired".
Examine the gun & look for excessive wear ... then decide value.

Never been fired .... my big ole butt !

Has the gun been FIRED ?
YES is the ONLY answer !   ..... UNLESS ... YOU built the gun  or can PROVE that the gun was never test fired at the factory.

I seriously hope you buy a gun that has really never been fired and then carry it in that condition to protect your life because you know the gun will fire when you pull the trigger ::)

Yep, the way it is...I have a friend who bought a Glock 43 to carry; got her permit and has never fired the gun...Stupid.

Why are you fellas getting your panties in such a wad? Eveyone who collects understands the guns have been fired at the factory. The difference in those 5 or 10 rounds? Colt python in same condition as it left the factory verses the same gun with 2 cylinders fired out of it. Value could easily be several hundred dollars less. Will these minis ever be at that point? I kind of doubt it. We did see where an original BT sold on gunbroker.com for $3000.00. Bottom line is real simple. If you have zero interest in collecting firearms, and preserving their pristine condition, then don't. If your sole interest is in shooting your guns, great. Go for it. Why hand out a ration to those who make a bit of a hobby out of it? I happen to have both. I enjoy the fact I have close to, if not over, 30 minis with the same last 2 digits in the serial number, and none of them have been fired. Are they worth a huge premium? I don't know, and don't care.

I would hope enough forum members on here have read enough of my posts that no reasonable thinking individual would even consider that I might carry a gun that I have not fired sufficiently to the point I know it is absolutely reliable, and I can depend on it for my life. It blows my mind that anything written in this thread would lead anyone to think anyone on here is, or would consider carrying, a gun that has not been proven to be reliable for self defense. That is one huge jump to reach that conclusion. And, just for the record, carrying a firearm (even one that has not been fired) will leave marks and wear indicators on the gun, thus eliminating it from a serious collector as consideration for his collection.

Take it easy guys...No one here is saying buy a gun that has never been fired to carry without putting it through it paces. All that is being said, is some collectors like pristine guns and have no intention of using that one. The question here is for us carriers, what would pay, and would you trust buying an unchecked EB Ranger? Would you trust an EB Ranger that has not been put through those same paces, and will that affect what you would pay for it? Would you be willing to buy it then send it back for some maybe repairs? Or are you just a collector?

You are correct...apples and oranges and very well spelled out that way up front.
No where did anyone say to carry a firearm that had not been fired since leaving the factory.
It was simply stated that there may be more value in a firearm that was unfired....SINCE LEAVING THE FACTORY.
Yes it is typically quite easy to tell if a firearm has been shot since leaving the factory upon close inspection and yes people pay more for an unfired gun.
As Uncle lee pointed out the early R 2's had issues and it is a sticky wicket as to whether to shoot it and confirm that it was operational before selling or sell it as unfired (from the factory for those that need it spelled out for them).
To Uncle Lee's credit he avoided the conundrum by returning his pair of Ranger II's to NAA.

If selling as unfired (from the factory), one could point out the issues as well as pointing out the lifetime warranty and NAA'S excellent customer service if it gave the buyer a pause to buy.
Openness and honesty is always the best path.
