Ever notice how a thread goes down hill when glenn shows up??     8)
Maybe so ... but maybe Glenn is not the culprit.

Possibly too many folks want to be a victim?

I was merely pointing out a fact.

I have an EB RII also and have been waiting for a response to the original question way back in post 1.

Uncle_Lee

I don't think an EB Ranger II will be worth any more than a regular Ranger II.
Maybe to some odd collector out there somewhere, maybe in 25 or 30 years, the EB might, might get a little more.
I don't think so.

The original Top Break (Ranger I) isn't selling very high now.
I saw no bids on one starting at $1200.00 and it hasn't been that long ago that they sold for $2500.00 to $3000.00.
The Ranger II came out and the bottom fell out of the Top Break (Ranger I).

Thanks Uncle Lee, that's kinda what I was thinking, too bad the first Ranger was too expensive/hard to make, I like that design.

That's why I'm a little pissed at NAA for coming out with the Ranger 2 so quickly , sorry fellas but I bought all those Ranger1's for investment purposes and Sandy dam it  "SHOT ME DOWN" . Sure the Ranger 1 is superior in design and function but still it will be tens of years before any of those high prices will return to be seen again . Never again will I put out so much dough for any NAA again unless its made of solid 24 kt. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me . :(

Something to consider, the Ranger I is different than the II, parts could be an issue ?

you waited too long, how high did you think they were going to go? when they hit $3,000 you should have unloaded them one at a time. i have two. I expect to have them until the end, so the rising value and now the falling value dont mean anything to me. same with the two EB's. maybe it will be easier to get an early bird in the future for those who really want one to keep and not just to resell, if early birds are ever offered again.

If the Ranger 2 didn't plow under the market for the Originals those pieces could have been well beyond $3000. to a unique buyer . Besides I did sell two before the market fell completely out . NAA should have given warning it was going to remanufacture these pieces , its the top break that makes them so unusual a piece not just the locking mechanism and making them in long rifle also was a very low blow to boot  .  Kinda took the luster out of NAA for me anyhow .Should make up for it by producing Long Rifle cylinders for the Ranger 1 , for a minimal charge also .

I think they gave plenty of warning. Look at all threads complaining they weren't out already. How much warning did you need?

what made them an unusual piece commanding high selling prices was their scarcity. if they would have been continued to be manufactured the early bird prices would not have been any higher over the regular production than the EB Ranger II is than the current regular production Ranger II.

Speculation is always a risky business by nature.

It would be nice to have a LR cylinder for the original Ranger. I dont think there are enough of them made or even enough people who own them who would order one. I have both cylinders for all my minis except the original ranger and obviously the 22 short...haha.

I would think eventually there will be a market for the EB R-II's, just as several of the earlier NAA's bring a bit of a premium.
I would expect an unfired model to bring the most as they are the most rare.
Many have said they bought the R-II's to shoot and have done just that.
If the R-I's had been shot as much they may have had more issues found.

It may take 40 or 50 years before the R1's get back to the $2000 mark though.

Al you seem to have MISSED the point but oh well it doesn't matter much anymore . Simple basic business arithmetic is the answer .

Collecting anything is best done by those who admire the item. I have several Minis that have not been fired, but, I am not anticipating any huge increase in value for any of them. I do not feel the EB RII has any huge value over a regular production RII, as the market is very narrow, and the demand is low. IF there is ever a huge demand, I suspect it will be seen by my grandkids' generation, not ours. And, if I were to be able to look down and see a strong demand, I would be surprised.

It's kind of like my canoe restoration collectors. You have to have a buyer willing to pay. It is worth what someone is ready to shell out.
