Ready to pull the proverbial "trigger" on NAA minis for myself and wife and came to this forum seeking more Info. This thread, along with the one with the with the horribly messed up Pug barrel has me *seriously* rethinking things. I'm sorry, but the "they have great CS and will make it right" is a load of you know what to me. Nothing any company has ever "made right" to me in the past has compensated me for my TIME. Further, it should have been "made right" the first time. These guns aren't cheap Saturday night specials being purchased by customers with no other alternative. New owners should not have to send guns back to get them working right. That barrel I saw (on the pug) was inexcusable.  This is the 3rd time in the last 7 years I've found myself here, debating a mini purchase. Each time I've been deterred by the number of situations that required being "made right"'- and each time it has been the same refrain  - "they'll make it right".  Making it right to me (after seeing that barrel) would entail an NEW gun, overnighted to me, with the serial number moved to the new frame, OR (if a totally new gun is required) a check for triple (or more) of the transfer fees, background check fees, gas & time, and shipping fees. Unless NAA is doing this they aren't making anything "right."  Sorry for the rant, but I'm pretty disappointed to be seeing that things seem to be slipping further with NAA quality control. I'm appalled at the photos of the jacked up (beyond all reason) barrel, the pug that showed up and wasn't a pug, and the several other quality and attention to detail issues that are all here on the very first page of the forum.  I know this isn't the way to make friends or garner help - but geez, one would think that after years of "making things right" that NAA might actually make things right to begin with. Bummed :-(

Sounds like you shouldn't get one.

I think the thing you forget is people that have no problems seldom post that they have a great gun, only the very few that have a problem come here and Bit--ch . You for get the thousands of great Minis people have bought and used with out problems for 20 30 40  years. and if a problem occurres after 20 years you send it to NAA and they fix it and return it to you and as good as new condition. this forum has thousands of members and about 20 of us post regular just to chat. then you have 3 or 4 who got a not quite perfect gun and they come here and bad mouth to the end of time how bad these guns are.
Go to any other gun forum on any other brand and you will find the same thing a few gripping about a bad gun they got but no so much from the other thousands that got great guns. Think about it.
and great CS is just a normal thing with NAA not so sure about other brands. my 2 cents

The simple solution would be to find one in a gunshop to inspect prior to buying... ( jes' sayin' )

Check them over extra well before buying . One thing I would change or add to NAA's sales would be a nylon zip tie to prevent no so smart dealers from playing with them and dry firing them before being purchased . Heck one instance I saw was a dealer trying to take the cylinder pin out with a pair of pliers of a Freedom Arms piece I was buying , instead of rotating it 180 and slip out . What I'm trying to say is a gun dealer should have caught that barrel long before you seen it . All businesses should have a top of the line quality control person before bad news reaches out . I get real excited at dummies' around MY STUFF especially so . Have a question though ,does NAA still send a packet of spent casings with the gun anymore ?
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

OV-1D, I took delivery of my Black Widow last Friday from Davidson's to my local dealer. The gun was packed in a sealed padded envelope inside NAA's lockable box. No empty test cases, but maybe NC doesn't require them.

Some observations from the rough-barreled Pug's owner:

There are FAR more "regular" threads of this forum than threads about problems. From what I can see, the good/bad ration here seems to be better than at other forums for specific manufacturers. That doesn't mean NAA never has quality control issues, but they seem to be rarer around here. I agree that the barrel on my Pug should never have made it past QC, let alone twice. But how many cases like mine do you actually see if you scan through this forum? Horror stories are few and far between. And the second Pug I bought a week later was fine, so there's that too.

My experience sucks, no doubt. But it's certainly not a common one.

As a bonus, here's a fun little drinking game:

Go to any gun (or even knife) forum. Look through the "problem" threads and take a drink every time some says something like, "[insert manufacturer here]'s quality control has gotten a lot worse in the past few years." You'll discover two things:

1. No matter how old the thread is, someone will be saying that. The mythical time of perfect QC is always further in the past.
2. Actually, there isn't a second thing. You will already have died of acute alcohol poisoning.

Chill Bill

Skol, good post, totally agree.  Complaints are voiced online much more aggressively than satisfaction.  Seems to be human nature.  I'm totally satisfied with my NAA products (BW, G32, 1-5/8 LR).  That BW travels a 5 mile trail with me several times a week, couldn't ask for anything more practical, reliable, lovable :) .  The G32 is just an amazing solid gun, close to the simplicity of a revolver.  The 1-5/8 was my first NAA love, power not to be underestimated.
