When I first tried out my new Ranger, the only ammo I had was what I'd been using in my

   Mini-mags, 50gr.Fed JHP. I noticed that the

cylinder was a little tight, indexing to the

next chamber. Couldn't find any bulgrd primers,

although the rear of the cylinder-to-breech face

clearance was about 1/2 that of the Mini-mags.

It was suggested that I place the rounds in a vise, and tap the primer down with a hammer.

I went with changing to CCI Maxi-Mag, 40gr. JHP.

There must be a slight difference in the height of the primed area, as rotation was normal with

   the CCI rounds.

Just thought I'd mention it, TACC1.

Another reason to try different ammo in a gun if you're having trouble. It's better to rule that out before sending it back to the maker. Thanks for the report and glad the cci's are working for you.

"" it was suggested That I place the rounds in a vice, and tap the primer down with a hammer"

Um, not only NO, but hell NO   . not a good idea.

   rethink that logic.

Folks,

Thanks for the replies.  That was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion by someone who knew I'd laugh.  Thought I'd pass it on.

For some reason, the Ranger sits in my hand better than the Mini-mags did. I put wood and rubber over-size grips on each.  The Ranger's

stocks almost feel wider than the older ones.

   I won't have to replace these.  TACC1

Went to the cabin with the Break-top to shoot for the first time.  Was using Winchester Dynapoint Magnum.  Only had time to put 15 rounds through. No issues. Seem to shoot very straight when I held it well.  Pearl grips are very slippery great looks has it price.

"great looks has it price"

   About $75 wasn't it?

Slick grips can certainly be an issue, can pearl be checkered?

Latex gloves!!! I guess the sight of those will scare a lot of BG's off - not everyone's up for a back street prostate exam
