That's ME on I-95 , ha ,ha .
Yeah I use to drive from Miramar to West Palm everyday for work. Called it highway roulette.

Hey Al, there used to be and maybe still, a table saw that has an instant stop if the blade ever contacts a body part. I met a woodworker that has one and although he hadn't put it to the test yet he thought it was a great idea. He showed me an expensive cartridge that has to be replaced if was tripped. Couple hundred dollars per cartridge if I remember correctly, and that was around ten years ago. A lot cheaper than the ER and non replaceable body parts. Something to look into??

Wow, that's a great saw. I wish they made a retrofit kit for my saw.
$1500 to $2000 is a lot for a table saw. To be fair, it's a much better saw than mine.

Yeah but what if one didn't notice the computer chip (I figure its gotta be something like that) already got burnt out) . NNNOOO I'm not about to test some new age nonsense out with my hands and fingers , best to practice good saw actions and as you check twice in measuring check three times in cutting and DON'T ANSWER THE DAM CELL PHONE WHEN IT GOES OFF for one good practice . Letting blood in construction is inevitable its the severity thats says if you were thinking about what you were doing or not . Some people don't think enough and get pulled into wood chippers and that happens kinda too much for thought or chopping down big trees and standing there waiting all the while its about to launch the poor bast*ard from the recoil bounce or worse .So Al you got away pretty good I would say and as always these things make us a little wiser .

Yeah there is. There is only 2 problems with that. The price of $2000, and the fact that with the fences and all it won't rip 1/4" from the edge of long boards. Taking of the safety fences shuts down the saw. So, I could buy it, to go with the other 2 saws that won't rip long boards, and I would still only have the saw I was using to do the job I was doing...NOPE.

I do have an accident of some wood working related sort, every 15 years or so...That is the life of being in a wood shop.

That's a really good point. I didn't see anything that let's you test the system, like you can with a gfi. That's a real negative for a safety system. I guess the attitude should be that it isn't there, so be careful. If it works, we got lucky.

There's an opportunity here for some enterprising fellow to produce a retrofit kit that sticks a metal bar in the teeth of the blade when it's tripped. The electronics is simple, the same stuff that lights up the elevator buttons that don't move. It works on a change in capacitance. Use the change to trip a relay (solid state would make it fast), that moves whatever needs moving.

It comes with a Finger Back Guarantee ::) If it doesn't work one of the CEO's will give you one of their fingers.

This guy sums up every saw that came over here from abroad .  :)  Funny this guys fingertip looks a little blunt , wonder if the hatchet slipped . :):)
