Whoever is making these for NAA is an amateur.
The grips are burned with a torch to "age" them! This is so obvious looking. It also makes the surface of the grips brittle and can cause cracking.

Did you pick up a set that you're not happy with bill?

They can be aged looking by polishing them a little extra hard on a wheel . It will discolor the exteriors but will be harmless to the sets body overall . Lets see them howbout it . Need pictures for sure Bill .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

I'm really happy with the aged Stag grips I got, Bill - they sure don't look to me like they've been torched .........

No, I didn't buy any. They are on the NAA site.
They are obviously torched. If one wants to artificially age stag, it's best done with potassium permanganate or other dyes. They don't damage the surface.

So you're assuming they are torched. I mean how can you be sure just by looking at a picture on a website?

bill_deshivs

Because I have worked with stag for 50 years. I have burned it, dyed it, bent it, boiled it, cut it.
Burned stag is blatantly obvious.

Chris

I really wanted something like that but the way they look is a turn off, especially the mag version - looks like and aging potato.

Get better product and we will come.

Welcome to the board, Chris !

I love the aged stags I recently bought from NAA, but everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

I have lighter colored stags on blued revolvers, which look good - but IMO the aged stages look best on a stainless frame.

Some folks like vanilla ice cream; other folks like pistachio ice cream........  ;)

I like butter pecan, and I think the aged stag grips look pretty cool, no matter the aging process. I'm thinking they might look great on my new "PVD" True Black Widow. (or is that True-Black Black Widow? Or just PVD Black Widow?)
