You think the sickness is setting in?

My other threads on this forum deal with having to return my Pug for service immediately after purchase because of a rough barrel. That said, I really loved the size and how it fit my hand. I was able to get a death grip on it unlike anything I was able to do with other minis I handled. The sights also lined up naturally for me. So...

I may or may not have stopped my a gun shop today after doing my "essential" shopping. I may or may not have seen another Pug in the case. I may or may not have inspected it more closely and found things to be in order. I may or may not have brought it home, looking forward to having two Pugs once repairs are finished on the one I sent in. I may or may not be typing this with my second Pug lying just a foot away.

...mostly "may" to be honest. You think I've caught the bug you all seem to have?

Wellllll, as long as your puppy is at the vet's, if you do not have the tritium nite site, it would be an excellent time to have them install one, ESPECIALLY when they are replacing the barrel anyway. Also, if you do not have the LR cylinder, and want one, another great opportunity for you, since it will only cost the price of the cylinder ($50) and not involve any extra shipping costs! Just my $.02 worth. And no I don't have any corona sickness......

Wellllll you may need something to carry your new Pugs in!

Pocket Holsters are a good way to go for the Pug

The "Driving Holster" is my favorite way to carry it

But.... A strong side Pancake or a Cross Draw should not be overlooked either

Yes, Congrats!  you have been diagnosed with "the NAA sickness"  The fatality rate is only tied to your bank account  ;)

You May or May not be buying others (you probably will  :o)

Some of us buy two at a time and keep them in shoe boxes  (Uncle_Lee)  ;D

Others of us "Find" Gunbroker.com for the first time and put bids on several NAA guns we think are a great deal... then have 4 or 5 guns to pick up at our FFL!  :o
(I only did that once!)  ::)

BTW.... Welcome to the Forum!

Rick brings up a valid point. You will need a way to carry effectively. I have learned from many years of carrying in my jeans pocket without any type of holster, the metal will wear out a pocket prematurely. The gun will also gather a lot of lint. For me, the perfect solution is what Rick calls a pocket sleeve. This is relatively thin leather sewn with the rough side out, and just enough leather to cover the gun. It breaks up the outline f the mini, protects if from so much lint and keeps the pocket from wearing out. A lot of members seem to prefer the upright holster in Rick's first picture, which also provides a place for 5 spare rounds. Which ever way you you choose to carry yours, you will not regret buying from Desert Gun Leather. Rick produces first class products.

Well, well, Storm
Welcome to the asylum.
The pair of Pugs is a wonderful way to start.
Next may I suggest a pair of Black Widows.

Now it is time for coffee and "Rick Leather".
OH those pictures.

Absolutely! Black Widow should be next! Good call Uncle_Lee!

OK skolstorm, here's what you do..... let the checking account rest for a few days or, sell something you hate, a lawn mower? washer & dryer? You get the idea  ;)

Go to the LGS and "fondle" a Black Widow so you can tell a "significant other" or anyone that may question this buying decision that "it feels good in my hand, the Pugs are for "deep concealment" or some other BS like that.

You got this!

p.s.

Welcome skol,
Some of us have a few, some have... a few more. Two, or twenty.
I have four, and have stopped there due to budget limitations.
My first was a 1 5/8"22LR in the 1980's. A 22 mag followed soon thereafter.
In the last 10 yrs I added a tritium front sight 22mag to carry, keeping the other two as spares,
and a 4" Earl combo for hiking with. If the lottery comes through, a case-hardened mini will be added next. Good stuff.

Well I suppose people could try to talk me off the ledge, but I get the feeling I'm already in free fall.

Rigemortis

It's a good sickness. They keep their value pretty good. I am hooked. I want a mini master or something with a longer barrel for a kit gun. Also, as much as I like mine it would be nice to connect with my target better during range time. I suppose it's a matter of weather or not I need it, and when does it feel like I have the extra money and it doesn't feel too much like a hit to my wallet.

Buying a holster is a good idea. You can feed your sickness for less money and make what you have more usable. Rick does nice work.

I'm researching holster options at the moment. In the meantime, I made...something. It's ugly as sin and made from random stuff from my junk drawer, but it functions as a sort of holster. Better than nothing. Even has a bit of retention.

Storm,
Welcome to the forum.

Glad to see that you are infected. The only cure is a pair of Black Widows and a 32acp Guardian.

Follow Uncle Lee's advise and store them in a shoebox.  They tend to "multiply" better in there.

Add a nice holster (or three) from Rick's shop and then sit back and relax with several cups of coffee.

You should post a picture!

There are quite a few talented people here that have put together Holsters from parts and pieces of other Holsters or from taking something else they had apart and made it a holster.

Those Holsters show skill and resourcefulness. Both are qualities to be proud of.

canoeal has posted pictures of one or two he has made from "parts & pieces"
Rick Jorgenson

skolstorm

I am around 120% certain that there's nothing to be proud of here.  ;D

It's made from an old cheap wallet, some cloth tape to help it hold its shape and smooth up the inside, and a rubberized twist tie as a thumb push-off thingy. It has just enough retention to hold the Pug when held upside-down, but it won't pass a shake test. On the other hand, this Pug will be the workhorse that gets carried/shot/etc. much more often. Maybe it's fitting to have a holster that could be described like, "It ain't pretty, but it'll get the job done."

Once the other Pug gets back from NAA, I'll probably keep it as more of a backup/eye candy option, perhaps more fitting of being dressed up in leather.

Uncle_Lee

"It ain't pretty, but it'll get the job done".
In the world of survival, that is the main thing.

Some holsters out are very pretty but they won't let you draw the piece smooth when you need it.
Gets the job done comes first. Pretty and gets the job done comes next.

Congrats.

I would suggest that you carry that other Pug in your pocket for backup. If it is at home, it is worthless.

Me?
I carry 2 Black Widows and a Pug.
Just is case.
They are not that big.

For the most part, a Pug in my pocket would be backing up a Glock 26 on my hip. But I also got it for deep concealment and/or super lightweight carry situations. I live in a big metropolitan area, which typically results in an anti-gun atmosphere. I have anti-gun relatives. Some places I go post signs banning guns on the premises, though they don't carry the force of law. Heck, the Fedex hub where I dropped off the first Pug had one of those signs. In those situations I'm looking for maximum concealment, so adding more guns wouldn't help me there. If I'm only carrying the Pug, it's because I'm pretty much down to carrying it or carrying nothing. One Pug beats zero, at least.

Or maybe sometimes I'll just be lazy and want something small and light for my trip to the corner store.  :P

I once made a pocket holster out of a soft side glasses case. Didn't keep it long...

Looks better than mine.   ;D

I used to have some old hybrid holsters, but I salvaged the (faux?) leather backing from those long ago. It would have been easy to fold a piece in half and then sew along the edges, leaving an opening to insert the gun.

Are you able to make a pocket holster without the shell pocket? I would prefer something with a narrower overall profile.

No trouble making one narrower, let me know when your ready and I can help you out  ;)
