Greetings All!  Haven't been on this board in quite a while.  I own a 22mag and a  Black Widow.  I'm trying to find out if any California members have purchased the 4 inch barreled Ranger II.  I believe it's legal in California because it's exempted due to barrel length.  Can anyone confirm that for me?  I would also be interested to hear what folks think about the pros and cons of the Ranger II and the Sidewinder.  What would you recommend?
Thank you!

For single action revolvers: SB 15 Exempt handguns.
2. Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven & one half inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.
I also have a Black Widow. It's a bit hard to measure the overall length since I have an oversized  grip on it which makes it come in at about 6". Add 2" more for the 4" Ranger barrel. IF the Ranger frame is the same size as the magnum frame it appears it would be very close on making the length requirement. An oversize grip would be a BIG help.

From what I have gleaned over time, The 4" Ranger II is legal in California.  My next question is....has anyone bought a 4" Ranger II and shortened the barrel to use it for concealed carry?  This is of course due to living in California and being unable to have a barrel like the Black Widow.  I actually have a Black Widow that I acquired used, but like the reloading ability of the Ranger.  Thanks for any thoughts about shortening the barrels.  Is it possible and would it still fire accurately?
Thanks!
