Maybe have a look on gun broker and see if you can find one comparable to what you have. That might give you an idea.

When it comes to guns like this, that are no longer made in that caliber, it is hard to put a figure on it. Like always, if it is unfired in the box with all the papers, it will command a little more. If it is well used, not so much. I have a BW in 17 HMR that is unfired, in the box with all paperwork, plus the sales slip from the day it was purchased, showing the box of 17 ammo that was still unopened. About the only thing, in my mind, that would add value would be a 17 Mach II cylinder to go with it. I don't know if they ever sold the combo. I would not pay $700 for mine, even if I were in the market for one. Is his worth $700.00? I don't know, but I feel that may be a little high. But, it would not be the first time I was wrong. Would I take $700 for mine? I should, but I really don't want to sell it, so I would probably pass. I would like to run across another one, just like I have now. (I have 2 sons who are "into" guns -which one gets the 17 BW?) I would not pay $700, and I doubt I would pay $500.00, but I might.

The Blue Book of Gun Values is similar to the NADA book for automobiles. They note the following about the BW:

It was introduce in 1991, and during its production was available in.17 HMR (new 2003-disc.), 17 Mach 2 (new 2005-disc.), .22 LR or .22 WMR cal., 2 in. heavy VR barrel, fixed or adj. rear sight, full size black rubber grip, stainless or black PVD (True Black Widow, new 2019) finish, 8.8 oz.. They value it at $245.00 in 100% condition (just like it left the factory) and down to $185 in 95% and only $85 in 60% condition. They show no added value for the 17 caliber.

If you discover any pertinent information, please let us know, as there are others on here who would be interested in what you learn. Also, which model does he have and what condition is it in?  Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is the model NAA-17HMR-HG I bought it Jan 13,2014 at the lgs. Nothing came with it. Keyholes with everything I've shot out of it.  >:(  $219.99

I would call NAA about that. I bet they can fix it.

They will trade you a 22 mag for it.

Also solves the problem of the case backing up & jamming the cylinder. .17 HMR pistol, solution looking for a purpose.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did send it back quite some time back and they countersunk the muzzle. I wish they hadn't done that. Looks unsightly. Did nothing to fix the key holing either.

He decided to keep it and give it to his son when he passes.
