I've had this gun forever.  I've always liked it. Made in Spanish Fork UT.

Anyway, I picked up some CCI 'maxi-mag' rounds HP+V.  Should I have any concerns putting these through an older NAA 22M?

Nope just not the Breaktop or Sidewinder...

My first mini is also a Spanish Fork, in22LR, well made and reliable.
Only issue that I know of as they get older is the main spring can kinda fatigue and you start having light strikes and failure to fires.  'Keep a spare mainspring in the parts box' is my motto.

Hello Gunners

Im new to this forum with a question.   I purchased a .22 Magnum in good shape.  Serial no.  W44---.  love the piece and the ability to conceal.   My question is it is marked Made in  Spanish Fork Utah .  Does anyone have an idea as to the date or why it's not Provo?   Enjoy reading all the posts and opinions.

                            Thanks in advance

My Spanish Forker is 30 something years old and has only about 20 rounds through it.

NAA was in Spanish Fork from 1984- the early nineties. Moved back to Provo in like 1994.

Canoeal, what did you mean by not the breaktop and side winder?  Are they unsafe?  I always thot you could shoot anything through them.

I though so too.  Does NAA warn against this ammo in those guns?

Old fart brain.--  If I remember right some years back there was a warning not about the gun but one specific brand of ammo when used  in MIni.  Think it was MAG not LR. Might have been Russian made ????   TulAmmo?   Steel Case?  Something about the rim blowing off or split cases only in Mini?   There were several posts about it.  Will start a search later. Uncle Lee should know.   Do a search also. Was not CCI. A off name.  NAA may have put out a post on it.

PMC brand ammo, including Armscor and Fiocchi,
made in  the Philippines.
Can cause double discharge, according to NAA.
Both LR and Mag.

It has been reported that the high velocity varmint rounds don't work too well in the two guns with star extractors. What the exact problem is I do not understand.

Maybe case expansion causing difficult extraction?

...and I'm remembering some past posts about difficult extractions that were caused by cylinders that were  overheated from rapid firing.  Both the Sidewinder and the break-top Ranger are more capable of rapid reloading than other models thus they may be overheated more easily.  The high velocity loads might create more heat than normal loads.

If so, maybe it wouldn't be a problem if not firing and reloading too rapidly.
