.22 Short Range Report

I had to go to the Range this weekend to drop off some stock Holsters and Gun Belts.

Since I was going early Sunday morning I thought I'd take a couple of guns I have bought and never shot.

The Hog Leg and the Buntline. They worked fine like an NAA is supposed to!

But the fun started with the "Shorty"  ;)

This was my first 5 shots at 15 feet using CCI .22 Short 1080fps

I did this after shooting my Kimber 1911 so there were no "warm-up" pre-shots with the .22 Short. I wanted to simulate shooting a "back up gun" right after shooting my #1 and see how it would go. (and a completely different caliber)

This is the first outing with the CVang Grips. Those definitely make a difference compared to the small stock grips. Using the original small grips I almost couldn't hold on to cock the hammer for each shot. With the CVang grips, there was no trouble holding on to it.

I don't have a chronograph or ballistic gel to show any statistics or penetration abilities.

But I can tell you the "Cool" factor of this little gun with other people at the Range is a "10"  ;D

It got on target. That is good.
The Shorty with CV grips sure is super cute.

That is cute. How's it do in the watch pocket?

OLD and GRUMPY

That's 5 hits on a bad guy! 3 center mass and 2  to make him sing in a higher pitch.

It sure is Uncle_Lee! That's only one of the reasons to own one (or two  ;)) of these.

The CCI 1080fps shorts have quite a "Pop" to them!

I was surprised it was on the paper! lol!  :)

5 shots to the middle of anyone at 15 feet or less might change their attitude  :o

The CVang grips are larger than the originals but do help with keeping a good grip and re-cocking after firing each round.

It still conceals easily because of its small size  :)

It rides fine in the watch pocket.

I started adding the small "tab" on the outside of these Holsters, which helps keep it in your pocket.

FYI... The Short needs to be out of the Holster to remove the Holster from your pocket. It holds tight  :)

Well OG.... the path is heading in that direction!  The last two shots were the lower ones  ;)

Rick,
If Uncle Lee orders a holster for his short, make sure it is fairly loose as he only uses one hand to draw, the other........................

is holding a cup of coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that short with some wooden Secret Service Grips would look awesome. I think I know what I have to start looking for now.  8)

Strange, no sign of keyholing.

Nice shooting!  I like plinking with my 22 Short using CB caps.  A little easier to control and still fairly accurate.

Try a set of CV grips and it won't move in your hand.

Maybe canoeal can "whittle" you a pair for the Short  ;)  I have a Dummy gun I can lend to get the frame dimensions correct!  :)
It could be your new "thrice" backup  ;)

I thought that was a good thing? Or is that common for the Short?

Thanks  :D  What are CB caps? I've not heard of those but if they're fun to shoot I'm in!

They made a big difference for me and they look great!

Rick,
CB caps are primer only fired.
They have no powder, 710fps.
Google CCI CB 22 Short.
Even cooler 6mm Flobert court,
I have some made by Seller & Bellot,
a pellet gun is louder, probably more powerful too.
They shoot a bb size bullet.
I've shot them in a lot of different 22s,
including my NAAs.

Cool! I'll check it out!

Thank you!

Yeah those wooden SS grips are to big for that gun. They may swallow the gun! Hmmm...

Grips may not look all that good.
But.
It is a picture.

Yep, that does not look too good. I figured since the CV grips looked proportional on the Short that the SS grips I think look ever so much better would do the same. That photo shows they definitely do not do so.  :'(

If you are carrying the 22 short, i think using any grips larger than the original defeats the point of carrying it......its small size and easy to conceal anywhere. If you are going to plink  for fun or go to the range, then a larger grip could make the gun more enjoyable to shoot.

If you adjust your hand on the grip correctly the 22 short or any mini will not slip or move in your hand even with the original grips
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Would you do this to your car?  Why do that to Mini? The whole point of Mini is small.  One rap of athletic tape and she won't slip in your hand. Won't leave sticky goop on the grips.

Oh, Heck Yeah! I'd do that in a heartbeat to my 99 Honda CRV! That's a Mud Wompper for sure!
(Not sure that little 4 cyl. would turn the wheels) lol!!   :o
