Any one know if I can get a .22short cyl with the safety notches, I thought I read some place
That naa replaces them for free ??
I want one for a .22 short I just picked up that's the old non notch version ?
Gun has cracked pearl grips so I got it for 59.00 with old velvet style box.

Or should I just leave as is , gun is unfired condition.

Edit... Found info on web site

1967.
Youv have two good options. You can send it in, and NAA will replace the cylinder with a new cylinder with safty notches, or if you carry it loaded, just load 4 chambers and keep hammer over an empty chamber. They will replace 22 short cylinders, but the gun will come back redone and say made in Provo.
You have to pay shipping to send it in. I sent one in with broken grips and they replaced them with new WOOD ones.
For more info. give them a call.

You also have a third option:

Send it to  me, and I will reimburse you your $59.00, and, just because I am a nice guy, I'll cover shipping to me!!

The pearl grips just fragmented when I removed them, the original owner
Way over tightened the screw ... Yikes !

California guns are different. Current production grips from NAA will not fit a California .22 short. You will be disappointed if you order them. You need to find vintage replacement grips for your .22 short. They aren't common, but they can be found.

Overtightening of the grips in the old California models was very common. I also purchased a California .22 short with cracked grips. I was able to find a replacement set of wood on eBay. The old ones occasionally come up for sale. Another option MAY be getting a set of current production grips, but modifying them to fit. Otherwise, they will be too big.

BTW, the way you can recognize the old California grips is that the top edge toward the cylinder is bevelled. Newer grips are rounded al of the way around.

Its been awhile, but I sent a 22 short,  model in for a rebuild and new cylinder and they replaced the black broken grips with wood ones that look the same as on a newer 22 short I have.
OK I just tried a new set of grips on old Cal 22 short and they go on but  they don't fit right. You wouldn't like them at all.
Call NAA and ask them what they are using for replacements when the  guns(CAL.models) are sent in for cylinder replacments and have broken grips, which is common on them. I am betting they have some, but could be wrong.

Now those are some good finds. I would love to come across that kind of estate sale.

i will still sell grips to you if you want but i was not aware that they would have to be modifid to fit.  Look for other options then get back to me later
