Who runs a RMR on a carry gun?

I?ve got to admit?. I?m probably an old fudy dudy, but I?ve never been a fan of someone getting an EDC weapon and then putting a light, RMR, ect.

If it?s a carry weapon, and you need it, chances are it?s going to be close quarters and you?re not going to need a sight anyway.  Not to mention all these tacti-cool bolt ons just provide plenty of additional surfaces to get snagged while your trying to get the weapon out.

All that said, I just picked up a Springfield XDs Mod 2 in .45 and, low and behold, the slide came from the factory with an OSP cut.  I just couldn?t help myself.  So I picked up this Holosun thinking my astigmatism would thank me for it.

I still hold the opinion that this is completely ridiculous for a carry weapon?.    And yet, I kinda like it.

RMR? OSP? Greek to me. Something to do with the sight size and mounting?

That XDs might work for me under a ski parka, otherwise too big. If I'm gonna carry it, it fits in a pants or shirt pocket. Anything bigger goes on the nightstand. Re-read your second paragraph.

I'm sure you'll hear from the bigger is better crowd. Some people would carry a .50 Desert Eagle and swear that they never notice it.... ;D
"If you get it and didn't work for it, someone else worked for it and didn't get it..."

If you/we know the phrase "an old fudy dudy" you/we are. Keep the gun smooth, light, and smallish.

I have had thoughts of putting one of those cool looking, look through dot sights on a .17 HMR Mini Master.
Now that I can get out again, I might just try that.
I wish I still lived out in the sticks with my "gun room".

Some guns that we carry are heavy enough without all the window dressings and like was said most of these additions are for the owners eye just like fishing lures are for the fishermans eye not so much the fish . Those lasers if they could be guaranteed to stay on exact spot and not wander even slightly they would be great "BUT" would you shoot an apple off your grandkids head with one .  :o
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

How did the astigmatism do with the reflex sight?  Still seeing "double dots"?

RogueTS1

Unlike Red Dot sights, Reflex and Holographic sights are not affected by astigmatism. The sight remains clear and unaltered. Do not remember what it is about them that allows this but can speak from personal experience. The Red Dots, while still usable and accurate, take on the shape of a kidney bean while our Reflex and Holographic sights appear perfectly normal.  ???

That is what I meant putting on my .17 HMR Mini Mag.
Now that is if I don't sell it to some member.
